I have a M&P 45 fs that I am going to start to carry. I need some advice on a few other carry items. I was thinking of going with a Remora IWB holster. I now want to know a good knife and flashlight to carry. Something thats not going to break the bank but no cheap plastic. Any advice on anything else I should carry everyday and what I can use for a everyday knife and light. Might even get a extra mag holder for the set.

Some things depend on your situation, and location.
I carry an older Buck assisted open folder in my front pocket. It is a good quality knife made in the USA. I use it to cut hay bale strings, clean my fingernails, etc. I last used it to pry a 22 LR case locked in a 38 Special case with cleaning media out while reloading my SSR ammunition.

I do not carry a light, but if I decided to I would need to do some research on what to get. I have looked at lights at The Battery Station. I would expect to pay from $75 to $150 for a High Quality, High Output belt carry light. For a light choice I would do a search for The Battery Station, and call them and ask what they recommend. The owners are a couple great guys, and will stear you right. They also know what lights are working out best for their customers.

Spare 15 round magazine??
Depends on where you run around at. When I am heavily armed I carry a couple extra 6 shoot Speed Loaders for a total of 18 rounds.
I stay out of places like East St Louis, Chicago, DC, and London after dark. I forgot, you can't carry in the places you Really Need To!!

If I were planning on carrying a good light, I would probably check into a combination Light and Single magazine carrier.

Since you have a Rail on the M&P you might consider a weapons light for your flash light. I have seen magazine pouches with a Rail for the light to attach to.

Just some thoughts.

I carry a BenchMade folding knife and Surefire flashlight all the time.

Off duty I carry my Glock 32 with one mag in pocket.

Some may suggest otherwise but I would not get a remora. I want a holste that fastens to the body for guaranteed weapon retention. I had one bad incident and there is a lot more to risk than gain. Plenty of good holster makers out there, just comes to presence. I prefer compmtac products and use them for all my carry weapons. I also prefer kydex because of the fast draw and ease of re holste ring. Always carry a spare mag, if not for capacity for clearing a stage 2 malfunction quicker. I carry a knife daily more for convenience and a light for the same reason. If you have time to pull your light and us it as a shooting aid you should have escaped! Carry on, be safe, and train.

carry new gun with accessories

Basic essentials to carry is an extra mag, tactical knife and a quality pepper spray rated over 1,000,000 SHU such as the Kimber for non lethal situations. As far as a light, if the gun has a rail for an external light, I would carry one for the dark encounters you may experience. Some ammo carriers have a rail on the side to attach the light or look into holsters that would accommodate the light and gun in one unit. Some users carry a backup gun in the event your primary gun is jammed or ammo depleted.

Can't advise as to the high-powered flashlights, as I've never been able to afford one of the expensive ones; but for a knife to carry, the Spyderco Endura or Delica are excellent: light, strongly built, good steel, easy to open with one hand, good pocket clip. I prefer the plain edge, not half-and-half and definitely not fully serrated.

I strongly support the idea that the blade should be a tool, not considered as a weapon. Any knife can serve as a weapon and inflict harm, but knife fights are mutually bloody and slow to stop someone. If it comes to that point, you probably should have shot your assailant before it got that far, because he's damn sure ready to take you out. I may get flamed for that statement, but think it over.

Yeah the Remora holster I got the other day works great with the gun. I want to use the two slot extra mag. pouch for a flashlight and of course a extra mag. I was looking into these flashlights I found called Monster Flashlights. Not bad for 320 lumens with 3 settings for under $50. As for the knife, not sure yet. Looking into the S&W tac knives and not seeing anything I like. But S&W are not known for their knives anyways.

I agree on either of these knives. As far as a light, I really like the compactness and brightness of the StreamLight ProTac 2L...excellent light and won't break the bank!

I don't know what a tactical knife is but I do carry a buck three blade the long blade is just 3". I have found that Mag-Lite make a good small light, Model DL 50, its' about fist length about and inch in diameter works on 3 AAA batteries and had a push button switch on the tail cap, has Hi low and flashing, it cost about 30 bucks at Wal-Mart or Home Depot. batteries last a good long time and give a good bright beam good for about 50 ft for man sized target to be seen. Holsters are a matter of personal choice, any good leather holster that is comfortable and you will wear is fine. I make my own holsters and my double speed loader pouches.

I like a good folding knife, a Fenix flashlight, and a spare mag/speed strip. I also have a restraint device with me (cuffs or flexi-cuffs) as well.

Start carrying all that much **** at once and you will be down sizing in no time :)

I carry a full sized 9mm in a cross breed super tuck and a kershaw assisted opening knife. I prefer to carry my 442 with 2 speed strips and the knife. I have no idea where I would put a flashlight and it would probably get left behind more than carried. Have one in the car and a few in the house though!

I carry an Emerson Commander, but have also carried Cold Steel Voyagers and a 5.11. Cold Steel and Benchmade are good blades. As far as lights go, Surefires are hard to beat, but expensive. For concealed carry when I'm off the clock, I usually carry a little Streamlight AAA LED penlight. This thing is sufficiently bright and goes easily in a pocket. For more deliberate applications, I carry a Surefire 6P LED.

I'm also a big fan of spending good money on custom leather up front. I like Milt Sparks, but there are other good brands. Don't forget a gun belt. My daily carry rig is a full size M&P 45 in a Milt Sparks SSII, a Milt Sparks belt, and Milt Sparks mag pouch. Crossbreed makes some interesting concealed carry gear that might be worth a look.
