ok well i recently bought the m&p 45fs and wanted to use it as a daily carry and i started holstering it and it was pretty big, i am 5'4 and have girly hands lol (i didnt choose them) and started thinking i saw a m&p 40c and carried it.... felt awesome in my hands but what i want to know is if the 40 shield is better than the m&p 40c i know they are almost identical but what would you choose...sorry for the run ons.

i put the m&p 40c on a payment plan i just want to know if i did the right thing going for the m&p and not the shield....... im lost

The 40c has higher capacity, is a bit wider, and can accommodate full size magazines for the full size feel. Both the 40c and the Shield 40 can be converted to 9mm with a barrel swap and magazine swap. The 40c can convert to 357 as well. Not sure if there is a 357 barrel for the Shield or not.

My 40c is perfect for carry.

so i did a good buy? plus y 40c came out to 500 bucks or did i over pay

Price sounds pretty reasonable to me and the 40c should be easier to carry than the 45 FS. And I do not think there is any 357 sig barrel for the shield. Good luck

I own both & I'll be honest with you, I carry the Shield but I prefer the 40c. Its just a lot more comfortable grip wise for me. If push comes to shove I can pocket carry the 40c just like I do the 40 Shield, but the Shield doesn't print as bad. If I absolutely had to sell one of them, It would be the Shield. And I think you got a decent price on the 40c too.:D

I think the only real reason to go with the shield over a compact version MP is if you plan on pocket carrying. I have Harwell IWB holsters for both my compact and shield 9mm. If I didn't know which one I had on, I would not be able to tell you by the feel alone. The great thing though, is that no matter which one you choose, you are getting an outstanding firearm. Like mentioned above, if I HAD to choose one to keep, it would be my 9c. It is extremely easy to EDC and I like being able to use the FS mags with an x-grip extension if the need arises. Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks guys glad I pulled the trigger on the 40c man do I love this forum, one more question I really like how my 45 has the ambi safety can I buy or send it to s&w to install it? Ive always liked the safety fir sime reason I know it slows you down by seconds when having to use it but better safe than sorry...

If your 40c has a square plug where the safety would be, then you can have one installed. If it doesn't, you cannot get it retrofitted.

x2. There will be a square notch with a plug in it on either side towards the slide. If not, you're out of luck. I have the notches, but never wanted a safety.

IMO if the .45's recoil was fine for you then maybe the recoil of the .40c will be ok too it going to be sharper.. For me the difference between a .45 and .40 is like shooting .38's out of a .357 then shooting .357's out of the same gun.. your new ..40 will have a louder report and will be snapper then the .45 I like the nice slow soft push of a .45 compared to a .40 cal but that's just me.. I'm 6' 200lbs with large hands.. How good the gun is going to shot for you to me is most important, maybe a .45c would have been a better choice for you.. You will soon find out. But hey I feel the same way about the old 10mm's .. The best to ya.. be safe! George
