I could not post a link because this was e-mailed direct to me...but its a heads up for whats coming at us. Nice of them to let me know. More lies. We need to make sure we have thanked the reps that listened to our side because they will be pressured and nice to know we have their back.

Friend --

Yesterday, 45 senators chose to ignore their constituents and stand with the gun lobby.

And because of Senate rules, this minority was able to stand in the way of a bipartisan measure to expand background checks for gun sales.

A lot of people are reading the headlines today and wondering how these senators had the nerve to get up there -- right in front of victims' families from Newtown -- and cast that vote against something that more than 90 percent of Americans support. I'm one of them.

Those senators made a cynical calculation that, at the end of the day, the gun lobby would be louder and stronger than we are.

Yesterday was just round one. We will keep fighting.

If you're one of the millions of Americans who care deeply about preventing gun violence, you need to show it today.

Add your name -- tell Congress you're not going to back down now until they pass a common-sense gun violence prevention bill.

Here's where we go from here:

The senators on both sides of the aisle who stood up to the pressure and cast tough votes to do the right thing -- they're going to know that OFA supporters are going to get their backs.

And those senators who decided that not crossing the gun lobby was more important than making our kids and communities safer -- OFA supporters will call them out and hold them accountable to their constituents.

The special interests have been at this longer, and they can do a real good job at scaring people by distorting the facts -- they think we'll go away quietly.

But there are so many more of us than there are of them. And as long as you don't give up, we're going to keep fighting, and someday soon, we will win.

Add your name right now to say you're going to keep fighting -- for the families of Newtown, Aurora, Tucson, Chicago, and the thousands of other communities that have been torn apart by gun violence:

Thank you for what you're doing. More soon,

Jon

Oh, man. The evil gun lobby thing again. Is it totally impossible for these people to understand that we care as much about "the children" as they do? We just don't think that trampling our rights and passing a bill that does nothing for "the children" or anyone else except make a few anti gunners feel good is something that should be made into law.

I watched the video today of Chuck Schumer laughing at Ted Cruz during the debate on the background check bill. Cruz had a sign quoting the study that said that universal background checks would do no good unless there was also universal registration. Schumer was making Cruz out to be some sort of conspiracy nut for saying the bill would lead to registration. Well, if the law won't work without registration, and you don't plan on registration, why are you trying to pass a law that won't work? And Cruz is the idiot?

If the administration wanted to do something positive to potect the children, they would have our blessing....like guarding the schools and make them a hard target...some Communities are doing this anyway...you cant wait for the Government to help you or you will be waiting a long time. this is about removing our ability to protect ourself....if it was about protecting the children (and I am all for that) they would take positive steps that really make a difference. Gun free zones protect the criminals more than they do the children, at some point...citizens have to take the bull by the horns and just do what needs to be done because the administration has a different agenda ....and our guns are on their agenda....their problem is the Constitution and the Second Amendment...and us.

I keep running across this reference that 90% of Americans support strickter gun laws or UBC. Where did that number come from? I'm skeptical. Seldom do we majorities like that in this country.

They took the survey at Citizens Opposed to the Constitution. 10% of the delegates were in the Restroom doing number two.

The opposition has the right intent but their execution of it stinks like yesterday's diapers. Why can't they see this? These are supposed to be educated people yet they act like ignorant morons.

That group is Obama's campaign organization with a new name. Really. All the same folks, just re-branded to push his agenda and raise funds (for his third election, maybe?).

What election? We have executive orders...we don't count votes anymore. I think its going to take more than executive order to trample the Constitution and the second amendment.

Gifford/Obama's other group is Americans for responsible solutions.

Everyone needs to watch this MSNBC report on how they plan to continue "shaming" senators. This aired tonight.

Rachel Maddow Show

Obama does not care a bit for the children. This bill was supposed to pass the Senate and be killed in the House, thus giving Obama the ability to demonize the House Republicans prior to the mid term elections. That was the true intent of this bill. It is ALL about politics with the Left.

Good Point! Makes perfect sense.

I disagree on both counts.

They do not have the right intent... and they are really morons. Education does not make one smart. You are born with your intelligence.

If you're smart, education helps you apply your intelligence. If you're a dumbass, education only gives you the ability of being more eloquent at being a dumbass.

They got it from this Gallup survey but they conveniently leave off most of the question, which had to do whether someone agreed that gun sales at gun shows should have a background check done. That was the question - not whether you support background checks period.

Thanks for posting. Just a blatant example of how
polls are used daily to mislead anyone not
doing their homework. Very interesting how the
the survey takes a presumption that background
checks somehow have never been required
at gunshows. Just bring your cash and presto
the gun is yours. There is a huge population
of even 2nd amendment supporters and well
meaning individuals who would buy that lie
simply because they have never owned more
than a shotgun or deer rifle and wouldn't
be caught dead hanging with "the nutjobs
at gunshows". I have a whole family of
them.

WFT??? I think we need to mail - NOT email - but MAIL a complimentary copy of the Constitution of the United States of America to these people. THESE are our basic tenets. If they cannot abide by them, please use your freedom to relocate to another country.

The Boston lock down was a microcosm of Gov't acting alone vs enlisting, trusting and working with the population. The second suspect wasn't discovered until the lock down was ended and a home owner was allowed to notice that things were amiss around his boat.. The gov't can act like a young mom with a 3 yr old or as a peer among adults. The current situation could be summed up very quickly by Rodney Dangerfield..

If anyone bothers to read this-
Sticky: READ this > HOW to use the 2A Forum

you will see that it says this:

Note the subtitle of this forum is "2nd Amendment Issues & Discussion".

Ideally, we should see nothing here that does not pertain directly to protection of or expansion of 2nd Amendment RIGHTS.
That means this forum is about LEGISLATION and responses from legislators or the actions of legislators or about carry permit laws and issues.

/\ Read that AGAIN /\

Ask yourself if your thread fits one of those topics!
We are having to move too many threads.

LINKS:
Don't
post a bare link and say "You gotta see this!".
Tell me WHY I gotta see this with a paragraph or two.
That is the start of a discussion.
Posting a bare link is merely creating an internet index.
Any link posted should pertain directly
to protection of or expansion of 2nd Amendment RIGHTS.
If your link gets deleted, you either failed to describe its value, or it does not meet our standards.

This is NOT:

This is not where you post general political discussion and comments on OTHER issues not related to the 2A. Other issues are the economy, Obamacare, libs in general, tinfoil and black choppers, how to start a revolution, etc, etc. Keep it focused on the 2A issues.

This is not for the latest news about some scumbag shooting someone or getting arrested with a gun.

This is not where you post your latest AR or AK.

This is not for discussing gun and ammo prices or availability.

This is not where you post which movie stars or talking heads are currently bashing the 2nd Amendment.

This is not for the latest news on a gunowner using a gun lawfully for self dense, unless it is simply an OUTSTANDING situation that we can use in the halls of Congress.

This is not where you will fix everything wrong with our society.

What we SHOULD do here:
ALERT people to upcoming restrictive legislation at ANY level of government, and discuss and promote methods to fight it.

ALERT
people to upcoming legislation (if any) that is supportive of gun rights, ownership, and usage or carry.

INFORM
people on methods of being proactive in the fight, including encouragement to join the NRA or donate to it.

INFORM people on methods of fighting abuse of our rights. An example is the thread running about a newspaper publishing names and addresses of permit holders in New York. While that is legal, we all know it is meant to cause distress to those permit holders.

INFORM people on which legislators are pro gun and anti gun.

Post real and accurate data that would be useful in the fight.

In the coming months, we will have plenty to talk about that is spot-on for this forum. Let's keep the clutter down, and stay focused on the object.

I'll also remind you to heed the rules for this board. You can find them at the top of this forum.
Especially note these two-
5. Do NOT even think about implying, wishing, or stating ANY kind of harm or misfortune should befall ANY elected government official.
If you want to talk to the Secret Service, just call them up and leave me out of the middle.

6. Derogatory, Flippant, or Crude names for any government official will NOT be tolerated.
Respect the OFFICE, if not the holder.

That means the President of the United States will be referred to as the President, or by the accepted usage of his last name or initials- 'Obama' or 'BHO'. Other government officials will be afforded the same courtesy.
