Has there ever been a firearm you owned that you wished now you had not sold or traded? I can think of a few myself, and they were not particularly collectible at the time. OMG

Yeah, there's several that I wish I had back. But, there's a lot more that I sold or traded off in the past that I'm glad I did.....heck, I have some now that I would love to trade off or sell for the right price. :D

Yep.... a 4" bbl M28-2 that was my first handgun (bought in 1974), that also went onto to become my first duty weapon. I sold it a few years later to buy a M29-2 after getting caught up in the Dirty Harry craze of the 70's.

If I could do so now, I'd undo that in a hearbeat. (S/N #N190708... just in case someone out there has it)

I sold off a glob of Rugers when I had another project going that morphed into my SW collecting. The only ones I really wish I had back were each variation of the lightweights.
Steel cylinder, tri-color, flat gate, alum. cyl........:(

Hey "Gunhacker" ~ I don't have it but if I did, I'd send it to ya free of charge just because I feel your pain!

I've sold several I could kick myself for over the years but, I did what I had to do at the time. 20/20 hindsight makes one wonder what they were thinking!

I stupidly traded away-the following:

An M-1911 A-1 Remington-made Colt .45 which had belonged to General Francis P. Hardaway.

My S-42 ""Black Widow"" Luger.

My: ""Tanker Garand.""

My Uzi. :-((

The only gun I truly regret selling was a Model 67 my dad bought me back when they first came out (1974 if I remember correctly). SOme others-I wish I had them back-but regret????? Nah...I made money on each one of them. Wish I had back the 4 screw 27 3.5" but only because I could sell it for more than I sold it back then. Ditto on ther 38-44 I sold to a forum member ( I doubled my money on it and if he sold it today assuming it is in the same condition now as it was when I sold it to him-he could get 3 times what he paid me for it). Same thing with the 547 I sold( I sold it for what I had into it ). Guns are objects and I save regret for other more important things.

I sold a few deer rifles I regret. Not collectible, but if I start chasing deer again,I'd use them.I did more bow hunting than rifle hunting back then, but I don't have the time or patience for that anymore.

Bunches and bunches, I want back my 581, my original 469. my 457, and those are just some of the Smiths. I really miss that 581. Parker hale 30.06 Browning A5. I was really stupid when I was younger. This thread is making me sad. I doubt I will have the funds again to replace any of my mistakes. I still miss a Browning .22 semi that I inherited from my Dad in 1964. My mother gave it to a boyfriend while I was in the service and told me it must have been stolen. I have a Snake Charmer in stainless that I gave to my mom cause it is a dumb gun and she lived in California. I got it back when she passed. I was wrong there is another gun I would still part with. I found it in her bedroom behind the door with 3 rnds from the original box of shells rubberbanded to the barrel, cause she lost the little storage door in the buttstock.

anyone who has been into guns for any length of time has done this. usually more than once.

There comes a time when you need to start selling off some of your collection. I am just beginning to (while still buying S&W's). I sold a nice 20 Ga O/U last fall and I am thinking about selling a very nice Remington HB Varmint 700 BDL in 308, and possibly my M Garand I bought from the DCM (not the CMP). Then there is a very nice Yugo Mauser I've never shot. I have no use for any of these any longer and it should free up a fair sum to buy more S&W's.

Most everyone will reach the point when selling some off is necessary. I have sold some to make room for others that I wanted more and sold others just because they never saw the light of day anymore.

I've traded a few in the past that I now miss. But I do a lot of trading, which allows me to try a wide variety. It's a trade off in my opinion.

I had to sell some when raising my family back when. Gave many to my family members when I moved to Oregon. Just kept my hunting guns mainly. But hung onto my Luger, a first model Colt SA,a S&W 22-32 Target & some others. Amazingly some others have appeared in the safe since then.

I don't regret selling any...but I do regret giving away a nice bull barrel model 10 to a friend who really isn't much of a friend anymore...I almost gave him my Nylon 66 too when his son turned 12 but I found out I was going to have a boy too so luckily I don't have that regret....which would have been a much bigger regret than the model 10 since I had the nylon 66 since i was 12.

Not really. I had a pretty nice collection not long ago, but I realized I didn't shoot them or even look at them. So I sold most of them, and enjoyed the selling as much as I did the buying and having. Maybe more really.

The only one I sort of regrete is an AYA 20 ga double I bought and sold years ago, and really the only reason I regrete that one is I've been bit the double shotgun bug again.

I have found lately, that I miss books I used to have more than I do guns. I'm finding Amazon is worse than the local gun store.
