I'm guessing they're talking about section 1.. Possibly the part in bold.

Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

54 out of 64 Colorado county sheriffs have filed a lawsuit charging that the recently passed gun laws are unconstitutional. Been joined by a bunch of other organizations. Interesting to me is that they are arguing it violates the 14th amendment as well as 2nd.

Ive been following this since first mentioned and the number is up from only 37 of the Sheriffs doing the suit--which was as of about 6 weeks ago.

Thank GOD, for those Sheriffs as well as for L.E. in general.
 
Very glad to see the Sheriff's of Rio Blanco, Mesa, Moffat, and Garfield counties are on the list! There are now 55 of 64 Sherrif's on the list. Nine left who don't seem to care about it......shame on them.

You know... I was wondering when someone was going to approach this issue from the 14th Amendment angle. It was, after all, the primary factor in SC Justices Alito and Thomas reaching their decisions in McDonald v. Chicago. While this is admittedly a far from settled issue among Constitutional scholars, there is at least somewhat of a precedent to show that this line of reasoning doesn't require a great leap of logic.
 
The El Paso County Sheriff Terry Makita is fired up about these laws. He has been very vocal and visable in this fight. It is encouraging to see this many Sheriffs involved. This State needs to be saved from the communists that are in power. They do not reflect the will of most folks here.
 
Since they would be required to enforce the statue I wonder what Legal Standing they have to file suit that their rights are violated. I agree with their theory, but can any of the lawyers in the group shed light on the legal standing issues?
 
This event is up the hill from me.

New Mexico has enjoyed very open gun ownership laws until last year when an idiot state politico tried to institute a "background check" and "assault weapons" bill.

He said he will do it again if the U.S. congress failed in their efforts.

My only hope is that the majority of New Mexicans like ALL things liberal...except gun control. I hope they continue to be that way.
