Greetings. I recently sold a PPQ "classic" (paddle mag release) with the intention of replacing it with a new PPQ M2. However, I accidentally fondled an M&P Pro, and am now torn.

From lots of googling, it seems that the Pro trigger is better than stock, but not as good as Apex DCAEK. If I decided to go the Pro route and wanted to improve it's trigger, would I still need the whole $90 Apex kit to make it comparable, or only one or two parts?

Also, does anyone know how the Apex trigger compares to a Q's trigger (this would be tough to beat)?

Thanks!

I have a 5" Pro in 9mm. The Apex USB made a big difference. The Apex sear did not. I would recommend you start with the USB. Polish that, along with the stock sear and trigger bar. I think you will be happy with the results. My trigger pull is about 4.5 to 5 Lbs and very crisp. I added the aluminum AEK trigger later, which improved the pre travel and over travel.

Do you have any particular competition in mind, or just want a cool gun with a very light trigger? This is my usual first question because I shoot in 4 different sanctioning groups, and the need to stay within the rules may make your decision for you.

I shoot a Pro 5" M&P in essentially stock polished condition, and being an old revolver shooter, I like it fine. The USB would have saved me some time, but I got the same results. I have shot an M&P with the full DCAEK, and it was nice, but made no difference in MY score. If you're good enough to take advantage of 1 1/2# lighter trigger pull, go for it. For the ultimate, I've noticed that a certain purpose-built pistol is dominating Production among the top shooters, but I have no intention of buying one, being too old and crippled to ever make Master. In any class below Master, anything beyond reliable and accurate makes little difference compared to the difference in shooters.

No particular comp in mind, and truth be told not wanting too light of a trigger. This won't be an EDC, but would like to leave the carry option open.

I shoot about once every 3 weeks. I don't have the time or $$$ to dedicate to competition. I live near Phoenix, and once fire season starts (can no longer shoot in the desert) I may go weekly to an unsanctioned match not far from home that a buddy of mine has been trying to get me to go to.

Coming from the PPQ, the stock M&P trigger leaves much to be desired, but the Pro seems OK.

Overall, it would be easier for me to sell my wife on a higher up front cost, than a lower up from cost, but then another $200 for night sights and trigger.

As stated, the M&P just came on my radar, and the Pro is especially tempting.

I suspect in a real world shoot, it would matter zero, you'll be finger off or mashing the trigger as fast as you can...

The Apex makes a big difference in both of my M&Ps but none of them are any where near as nice as the trigger in my PPQ m2

This video does a pretty good job of comparing the APEX sear vs the Pro, Standard and "new" Standard m&p sears.

Regardless of which sear you have, the Apex USB is a great upgrade for $25. It generally fixes the "gritty" trigger and provides a smoother uptake than the stock blocker.

Hey a big thank you for posting this link. This really helped me out. Super video with a very clear comparison of the differences between the sears. Really helped me out!
