So I won an M&P Pro 9mm at a 3gun match this last weekend. Pretty exciting since I've had my eye on this gun since I started shooting about a year ago. Love my standard, but wanted a long slide for USPSA.

It came by way of a certificate which I mailed directly to S&W with the FFL for where I want it sent.

Does anyone have any experience with this and know how long it might take to get in? I know supply is a little hectic right now, but I would think they "reserved" one if they were going to be giving it away at a sponsored match.

I've got a sectional match coming up later this month and I'd love to have it in time to get some rounds through it before then.

Last year at my LGS we had a guy who won a S&W gun at a raffle. It took about 6 weeks to arrive. The funny thing was, the winner came in when we called to say his gun arrived, & he told us he was a vacationing Canadian, & not legally able to get the gun. Since the gun was new, & never sold retail, we gave him dealer cost for the gun. He was happy. GARY

Im interested to know how long it takes you to get it. Ive had one on order since May 2012 with a reputable LE dealer. SW wont give me an answer on orders....only that as of March '13 they had 600 on backorder (178010 model). Good luck and congrats on winning one.

I'll be sure to keep you all updated on when the gun arrives. I'm really hoping the certificate more-or-less gave me rights to a "reserved" gun, and I didn't just get put into a backorder black hole, what a bummer that would be. I don't want to hassle S&W either, since I only mailed the certificate on Tuesday (June 4th) XD.

Take a look on Gunbroker. There are 3 or 4, NIB 178010 models being offered by FFL dealers. Waiting on a dealer for a year for a pistol you want must be getting old.....

Very old, but some were going for up near $800 on GB. I paid $480 for an LE model (3mags), but the gun is the same as any 5 inch pro. Not getting any answers is the real rub. Not to mention I bought 7 months before the craziness started. I hope they did reserve one for the OP.

Seems to me if they're giving a gun away they should actually have it available to give away. Telling someone they "won" a gun then making them ship a coupon for a maybe guesstimate on final delivery sounds pretty cheesy to me...

I agree. The promoter of the match should have had the gun there in the flesh to be seen by all the participants. Then the next day, the gun is at the local FFL for transfer to the winner. This was handled wrong. GARY

I was told by SW today that the LE side and "sporting" are 2 different animals. Meaning my problem is that the LE side doesnt get that many of the pro's. Hopefully OP you will have yours quickly.

It seems the 6 weeks N4KVE said it took to get in a prize gun is coming up short. Tomorrow is 8 weeks, so I decided to give cs a call. Well I apparently have the best luck, because guess who went on summer shut down starting today? Looks like at least 2 more weeks of waiting.

Hate to say I walked in two gun shops around here and each had them on the shelf. One was Cabela's in Louisville, KY.

Yesterday was the first time I had tried calling. I had only mailed the certificate on 6/4/2013, and I fully expected it to take at least a few weeks for mail, paperwork, and shipping. After N4KVE said he has seen it take 6 weeks I wanted to give them plenty of time to do their job before I bugged them. I'm a firm believer in letting people do their jobs; the more "where's my gun" questions they have to answer, the longer it takes.

Yesterday was the first day of "summer shut down", so I'm going to hold out and say someone was kind enough to ship my Pro out before the shutdown; I'll get it any day now. Crossing fingers... but NOT holding my breath.

Lot of the time for the matches it is easier for them to send a cert for any pistol then ship it out later.

As for shipping times, I picked up a 5" Pro in 9mm that I got for my armorer course pistol. We sent the paperwork in the first part of Nov and was shipped 21 May. Granted this was during the height of the great buying frenzy of 2013, so you may see it way sooner then mine..

Just FYI- when your gun does arrive you'll have the two mags it comes with, but that's all you'll be able to get. You may be able to do limited IDPA but USPSA is out of the question with only 2 mags.

Not worried about mags... have 6 for my 9 FS, and excited to have 2 more coming with my PRO!

4 1/2 months later, and I've got updates galore. I began calling S&W again the day after they opened back up from summer break. I was routed to "Ginger's voicemail" and left her a message on 8/12-no response. So I called again and left a message on "Ginger's voicemail" on 9/11. That's when I started emailing S&W customer service.

3 emails in and one finally gets a response... to one of my questions. Did they receive my certificate? No. Uhh... wait, what? After sending in a scanned copy of the certificate (thankfully I did that!), they confirmed they received it. OK, excellent! When should I expect to receive my gun? *Crickets Chirping*

I waited a little while (OK, a long while), and contacted the match director to see if he could put me in touch with their sponsor contact. Within 24 hours I had a response from the match director putting me in contact with Hornady who arranged all the sponsors, and within another 24 hours I had a response from Hornady putting me in touch with his S&W contact. This is where Stan (from S&W) comes in. Stan promptly responds to my email and apologizes for the delay explaining that they updated systems, and prize guns were one item that got lost in the shuffle due to some glitches. Stan tracks down my certificate and tells me he's got me all set to go, gun is shipping next week, and it'll be here by Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving was great, but gun-less. I email Stan about a week later letting him know it still hadn't arrived. We email back and forth a bit, I send him my FFL info again, and he assures me it's in the shipping department and will be shipping tomorrow.

The next day, by some act of God, I get a tracking number for my gun. It's due at my FFL on 12/16. Pretty sure I literally stand up from my chair and do the happy dance at this point.

And so... thanks to Bill (Match Director), Neil (Hornady Marketing Director), Stan (S&W), my FFL, and bottle of whiskey (for my FFL). I now have the M&P 9 PRO I won back in June.

In case you don't believe me, here's proof!

Best present under my tree by far!

Forgot to add that I should have a few more mags here on Tuesday. Courtesy of Stan.
