CHARGING HANDLE

I have noticed when I put the Big Arsh 3x12 scope on it is uncomfortable. Need to get a better than stock handle and attaching parts that work better with the scope for mine. I suppose weight is important also and I don't want it hitting me in the nose. LOL

All three available replacements are essentially the same size. There are differences in the various latches, though. None of these will have any effect on mounting the scope.

I don't understand how the handle could hit your nose unless you manually pull the handle; it does not cycle with the bolt.

While Jody at TactiCool22 has an excellent product, I am partial to my NDZ handle and Plinker Tactical latch. The PT handle itself, however, is junk IMHO. Poor machining and even poorer fit, at least on the one I bought.

Charging Handle

How long ago did you buy your PT?

Probably last June. The machining looked like it had been done with a file, the fit was so sloppy I could rotate the handle in the upper over 30 degrees, and the finish varied from dark blue to almost black. Pitiful fit and finish. I won't discuss the conversations with the about it. And I bought it when it was almost $70!

I gave it so another shooter who wanted to play with it for $20 but kept the latch for my NDZ. If PT would just market the latch, they'ed have a winner.

Wow, that is bad! The reason I ask is that I saw a lot of bad reviews for them and several good ones. Most all the good ones were recent and the bad ones tended to be older. I wonder if some of you got the message to them to make the things better. Mine is much nicer made but I bought it in May.

I hope so. In my discussions with them, they came across as the most arrogant people I have ever talked to. They make me look good! :D

I found NDZ by accident after I bought the PT and decided to give them a try. They are about 20 minutes or so from me, so it was easy to go to them and try the handle out before plunking down cash. Now, between my 15-22 and the two I bought my grandsons, I've bought three handles, two latches, three oversize mag buttons and three SRB levers. I did some of the beta testing on the second generation of the SBR. Put a LOT of ammo down range during that time. :)

Jody at TactiCool22 makes an excellent handle, too. In fact, it was Jody I bought the PT from. I think all the complaints he was hearing about the PT caused him to drop it and make his own. He offers several colors, too.

Haha, now that's funny!

Have you tried a Tacticool handle? I wonder how they compare the NDZ. I'm thinking of trying a different on on my newer 15-22 just to see which I like best.

Nope. I have several of Jody's products but not the handle. If he wants to send me one to try out ... :)

If you take a look at both sites, you can see the differences. I think both are great products.

I'm sure he'd be glad to send you one right after you send him the money. LOL Of course I'd be happy to test one too. :D

I like the latch that NDZ offers so I may have to try that one next.

I've got one of Tacticool's handles, with the Plinker latch...best of both worlds'....

Does the Plinker latch drop in without modification or does something need to be done for them to work together?

Thanks

You do realize you have to buy the whole PT handle/latch assembly to get their latch, don't you?

Yes I understand that, I have one on order. I do however like the idea of a bright anodized handle to differentiate my 15-22 from the others at my rifle club ;)

You can always use the PT handle for a paper weight, if you attach it to a block of lead. :)

I wish PT would sell the latch separately. I think it's the best ambi-latch available for the 15-22. You will like it. I can pull the bolt back with one finger without changing my shooting grip or use two fingers if shooting left handed.

For strictly right handed shooting, I can do the same one-finger retraction with the NDZ latches on my two grandson's rifles. They both love their NDZ handles and latches. TactiCool's color handles are great, as well. I have no doubt you'll be happy with Jody's product. He's another forum member who makes first-class products and is great to do business with.

I have two of the NDZ complete charge handles, one for each rifle. They work perfectly no slop, quick one finger sweep to reload or clear the weapon. I honestly don't think you can go wrong using NDZ stuff, everything on both my rifles is NDZ and it all works great. I actually really like their oversized mag release button makes life easy.

yup, i could live without the charging handle upgrade. My old charging handle did the job. (But I got a NDZ anywho)

But, like the above poster sez the oversized mag release is the shizzle and the SBR is the shizzilist.

Yep...just change 'em out....unlike the Major, I picked up my plinker for $32...so not as big a hit...I also did not have the problems with the plinker that the Major did, in fact the plinker fit just about as well as Tacticool's, but the machining was no where near as good....

I'm glad quality has improved. Mine was bought during the first couple of months of production. I should have known better ...
