Why no 2WD Ford F150s to be found?

Five years ago I was truck shopping and looked at Ford first. I've always drove Ford trucks. '62 '64 '79.

I wanted a single cab short bed 2WD with a V8. No luck. They didn't make one that I know of.

I wound up buying a '04 GMC. Nice truck but given the chance I would have bought the Ford.

What were they thinking? This is Fl. and we don't need FWD for the most part. I just wanted a fun street truck and GM had what I wanted.

BTW I didn't want a Lightning.

Ford, "I could have had a V8" you guys dropped the ball.

Hey we got sugar sand. Used to use four wheel at Daytona and Cocoa. Lots of State and National Forests, swamps and lowlands you need 4x4. Of course you need to do a lift kit and put monster mudders on them also.:D They are all over the place here (on the road) but they leave mud on them as a status symbol.

I want a small truck based SUV like a Toyota 4 Runner.:)

A Ford Raptor would be cool:cool::eek:

I always buy 4x4 Trucks both the 2005 F150 Supercrew I currently own (95000 miles) & the previous 2001 F150 have had zero problems with the 4x4 systems

True. We have muck over here and it's lots of fun blasting through but not something I have to do. If I wanted to hit the mud I'd have something just for it.

Here's my toy,

Get 4WD. If you rarely use 4WD then it won't break. If you use 4WD a bunch then you must have it. Dilemma solved. :D

I've never had to put a carry gun to use. But just like 4WD... it's there if I need it.

We have two trucks, both 2WD. I bought them in southern california and didnt need 4WD there. We moved here in SW utah. We live at 6,000 ft and just behind us the mountain range is 10,000 ft. We tried to sell one a couple years ago and it wouldnt sell as everyone here wants a 4WD,

Quick note - my internet service has been no service all day - down at public library to get on forum. ISP office is closed for holiday - be back Monday - $%^&*()%^&*( Hope that comment does not get me banned.

Thanks for the comment and suggestions. Well most of them.

I want a used truck / 2WD / Extended or Crew Cab / prefer 8 foot bed / prefer automatic / prefer electric windows / prefer bucket seats up front / rear seat is who cares - probably will be removed / cleaner than an oil drillers rig / ...

As my EX would say PICKY, PICKY, PICKY

Stopped by two dealers today.

#1 the Truck Man was too busy fiddling around to bother with me.
After being ignored for fifteen minutes I left. (Parker Ford here in Murray KY)

#2 Did have a couple of used 2WD F150s - too new and too high.

Will be in Paducah Tuesday - worth checking some lots there.

It is not like I have a deadline.

As for special ordering a NEW truck at dealer friendly pricing - There have been NO reports of falling temperature in Hades.

Bekeart

Will check in when internet service starts working again.

I'll stick with my good ole Chevy 4x4. Nothing like playin in a little mud from time to time and I'm a hunter so its kind of a necessity for me.

You're doing it the hard way if you're pounding the dealer's used car lot pavement. Get your internet back and then use Craigslist, Ebay and autotrader to locate possible candidates, private owner always preferred over the dealer but I've made good deals with both. Make a phone call or send email if no number listed and see how seller responds. Keep your bs detector on high and search until you find the right vehicle. I buy and sell as a hobby and I've never seen so many bargains available in cars, trucks, boats, houses......if you've got cash in hand and know how to buy.

Now that 1954 Ford with the 4WD conversion is definitely hard core! When men were men, etc...

My Dodge Dakota is only two years younger than yours, so I'm not ready to replace it yet. I got the 4WD because I wanted to go out in the desert and shoot It's great for that. The advice I got was keep it in 2 WD; if you get stuck, go to 4 WD and it will get you out. If you stay in 4 WD and get stuck, you've got no reserve escept a shovel.

Only problem I've had in 19 years was when some jerk at a 'quick as a flash' lube only tightened the fill knob on the transmission finger tight. All the oil came ou and I spent $800 on a new transmission and transfer case.

I saw

Day before I saw a 1965 Ford F-100, aqua green, twin I-beam suspension (that was high tech back then). Now that would be fun to ride in in the middle of the summer down a dirt road by a watermelon patch with the windows rolled down and your arm hanging out the window and going 'Yeee-Hawwww". I'm glad that I know what that feeling is.:)

The nerve

I'm on a chess site and one of the 'more serious' players is dismayed that we don't only talk about chess on public chat.
The nerve of some people.:D

OK, NOW back to topic.
