Does this gun come with a case??

I was wondering if this M&P 9mm comes with the plastic case? model number 209301.

I want to get the range kit but its been sold out and they dont know when they will get more, does anyone know how long it usually takes them to get more in?

The gun is great.

The case has little value. It's just a plastic case with open cell foam in it. Don't store the gun in it for long periods as it can accelerate any potential rust issues. Back and forth to the range it's fine, just not long term storage.

Should look just like this except with 2 mags instead of 3. As far as 9mm vs .40 goes do some reading and try to decide for yourself. There are pros and cons for each. Personally I chose 9mm, but it had nothing to do with the recoil of a .40.

Unless S&W recently changed the packaging, it should come with a plastic box/case.

Im leaning towards the 9mm, going to the range to shoot a friends 40 cal glock, to see how I feel with it.

Yes it will come with a case only the Shields don't come with a case. I would get the 40 it does not recoil much. I have the 9c and 40c and 40 and they are all great guns also have 40 shield I like them all.

Where do you live? If you're anywhere near, you're welcome to come shoot mine.

I recommend the .40S&W. The .40 can be switched to a 9mm with just a barrel and a mag.

You really should just get a range bag. You can buy a dedicated one, which I recommend, or just a bag that's of good sturdy construction with enough room to carry all you need. Eyes, ears, ammo, & your gun. S&W has a couple of different sizes on their site;they're a little pricey but well made. Plus, it has a big S&W logo on it, which is cool. You can find a generic one; Midway has them, as does Academy & Cabellas.

9mm will be cheaper to shoot but like stated you can change the barrel and have several guns in one. I'm not sure but the .40S&W Sig we have you can get a .357 Sig barrel and I think you can get it for the Smith but the .357Sig are expensive rounds.

There are plenty of threads about the 9mm ,40S&W, .45acp,357Sig going around just search. Some like one some the other but cheapest to shoot will be 9mm. I know you didn't ask about the other two but it will be in the research. Just remember you can change the barrel down but I'm not sure about upward compatibility, someone else might answer that for you, then you got both or more.

There is really not that much difference in kick between the 9mm and .40S&W. I had the same dilemma as you a while ago but decided to opt for the .40 and am so happy I did!

I love shooting the .40S&W and then with a quick change of the barrel and magazine, I'm shooting 9mm just as accurately. It really is like having two guns in one. Just be aware, this conversion can not be done from 9mm to .40S&W.

If you decide to go for the .40, I would definitely recommend you purchase the Carry and Range Kit. It offers so much more for such a small price increase. The UpLULA is worth it for the kit alone (you'll buy one anyway) and you also get an extra mag (3 in total) and Blade Tech holster and double mag carrier. Bud's has them in stock for $494 (cash price):

The all you need is the 9mm magazines. Which I have to admit and (as you probably know) are quite hard to come by these days. But while you're looking for them you can be practicing with your .40S&W, which is my preferred caliber for home defense.

Since you said this will be your first gun I would go with the 9 mm, and it has nothing to do with being able to handle the recoil or which is the better cartridge.

Everyone (IMHO) should have a good 9 mm pistol in their collection. And since it is likely your first gun will be the start of a collection of various makers and calibers the 9 mm M&P is a great one to start with.

Don't base your decision on a Glock. My Glock 23 (.40SW) was more uncomfortable to shoot than my S&W Shield 40.
