I've been considering a trigger upgrade for my Shield 9mm,after reading that many m&p owners go this route.
After talking with a salesman about triggers today he let me dry fire a Walther PPQ.
This is when I decided I want a better trigger for my future carry gun.
I really liked the short very audible and pronounced reset.
I would also like to achieve a lighter pull that is similar to my fs m&p 9pro.
I dont know a lot about kits and I'm pretty sure I can't just call Smith and Wesson and tell them to send me a PPQ trigger.
Any suggestions from you guys would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Mike L.

The PPQ trigger is not going to fit your Shield. The Apex kits are easy to install, and there are a lot of YouTube videos showing the how to install. Apex has their own videos, but they are not very detailed. With the right Apex spring combos, you can get the trigger pull to under 3 pounds. My shield 40 has the Apex kit with a 3 pound 10-12 ounce pull, just where I want it.

Go with the Apex triger kit made for the Shield. Robkarrob has a great video and its really a snap to instal the kit.

I would like to try, shoot a M&P with a Apex or upgraded trigger.. My M&P .45 FS trigger is much better than it was out of the box. polishing buffing dry firing did improve it immensely but if a short light clean crisp trigger is wanted my 1911's have that.. Something I don't think I will ever feel on a M&P.. George

I installed just the APEX hard sear in my 9mm Shield. Trigger pull is much improved! IDPA training tells me to practice weak hand shooting. Guess what? The weak hand trigger finger pulled the trigger before it was well aimed at the target. It wouldn't / didn't before the nicer trigger pull it has now. Something to consider. My groups have much improved since the sear installation but I'm not where I want to be accuracy wise - like centered on the bullseye LOL. Practice time coming shortly :)

I'm not so sure that is a positive selling point.

My way of thinking was to just clean up the trigger feel a bit as it broke clean enough.. And just get use to it! It's not a 1911 that I'm use too and i know that.. Still like it though! Safer for a S/D gun IMO.. Then again a 1911 then again 1911 is safe and fine if proper training is done.. But i wouldn't want a bad gun holding me at bay with a 1911 that's for sure.. I would feel safer even at the wrong end of a M&P and that's a good thing! George

That's what I'm saying. One should know the consequences of mods to the firearm. The answer is practice of course. The weak hand trigger finger was on the trigger (perhaps too soon?) during the final aiming process. Was surprised is all - no safety issue. I still learn things every time I shoot even at my age :)
