Yea I know this sounds silly. Here's the deal. Im looking for a b-day present for my old man. My mom said he's been complaining about needing new slippers for home. His old ones are worn and tgey are your avg Wally World brand. The guy stands all day and complains his feeg hurt (I know I know get him good work shoes but thats a different story). Anyway, I was looking into getting him some high quality, long lasting (read: dont wear out or flatten in 2 montgs), warm, breathable slippers. Something along the lines of UGGs or Acorn, Old Friend. ..I dont mind if its $100 or a bit more so long as its quality and something that can be slipped into (open back).

Ok, so does anyone wear slippers like that that can give me a review?

If his feet hurt, he needs something with support...google "orthopedic slippers" and you will get a good idea of what might work for him...

I used to walk 10 miles a day when I worked humping over re-bar, concrete forms, sand, mud, you name it.

I noticed the bottom of my feet getting sore so I slipped some after market cushy insoles into my Red Wing boots and the soreness went away.

I used to buy my slippers (house shoes) from Cabelas and back in the day, LL Bean.

I started using after market insoles in those, too.

As clothing can be very personal, why not have a father son outing. Take pops out and let him pick the style that works best for him. Then the two of you can stop off somewhere and have an adult beverage to Celebrate his birthday.

Good idea...but if he picks these, leave the slippers in the car before heading into the tavern.

LL Bean shearling sheepskin slippers are wonderful. The wool fleece is fine insulation that can be worn the year around but is especially welcome in chilly weather; and it's delightfully cushy for sore feet.

I think Cabela's sells a similar line, last time I looked, but the Bean stuff is tops..

Growing up in a warm climate "slippers" for us meant flip flops so I say get your Pa a pair of these Irie Bob Marley kicks.....Jah Rastafari Man.

I wear flips flops, he doesn't like em.

No thanks on the father/son time. I get what youre saying but its not that kind of a relationship. Nothing in common.

I'll check out the LL Bean slippers
Thanks

If gand dad is a tenderfoot, and hates it when folks step on his feet, these should end that problem ricky tick...

I'm a big plus one on the LL Bean shearling slippers! I've had a few pair. They have a rubber sole so grabbing the mail or a quick trip outside is a no brainer. They are warm, durable and by far the most comfortable I've worn.

I've bought them for my F-I-L, my kids and even my superintendent at work. They all love them.

I really like these LL Bean leather lined Moccasin Slippers. I wear them with socks in the winter and "au natural" in the summer. They are great around the house and are even OK to step outside (if it's not too wet).

Like most stuff from Bean's... they are made well and last longer than one would expect.

Here's another vote for shearling-lined slippers, sueded on the outside. A lot of department stores carry their own version, often much cheaper than the catalog houses. I prefer the kind you can just slide your feet into over the moccasin style. My sweetie usually gives me a pair for Christmas every other year or so. They have a treaded sole, perfect for taking the dogs out on an icy morning.

+1. They are great!

What he said.

i have a pair of sorel felt boot liners that i use for slippers. they look goofy but they sure are comfortable, winter or summer.

I gave up on store bought slippers years ago and stitched up a pair of soft leather moccasins for myself and my wife. They have padded insoles, they're showing their age but they haven't worn through.
