scratched my gun!

wear it with PRIDE it shows you USE YOUR GUN. Practice some one handed slide racks and see what that can do to your gun.

so far the eraser and clp ideas havent worked. nail polish remover maybe?

Its a scratched and nothing more. I promise u it will not affect the way the weapon functions. And i can also promise u that the bad guy isn't going to carry whether it has a scratch or not.

If i wanted a pretty weapon that I didnt care to shoot. I'd buy me another XDS and just leave it sitting in my gun safe. It's pretty and thats about the only good thing i can say about it.

The green scrubby/Scotchbrite and soap& water will fix that .

Well I look at it this way, A firearm is a tool like a truck. I don't go out of my way to purposely scratch them but with use they will get scratched. Bought our truck new and went to pick something up guy asked if we wanted to put something on the bed to keep from scratching. I just laughed at him and told him to dump it in, it's a truck and made to get scratches.

I've got several firearm I don't purposely take out to scratch but when it happens, the first scratch is the worst the rest just show you use it.

Be a different story if it was a safe queen they you don't use.

I scuffed up my sights pretty good getting them off. Then after some research I get some rebluing stuff from the door which did a pretty good job at getting to really close to the same shade of the gun.

i agree, however i have a slight case of OCD and i like to keep all my toys clean and looking nice. i dont see an issue with that

Try PMing ajamesp51 about this.
He does slide refinishing and could tell you if what you scratched is simply the pistol's version of 'clear coat' or something more.

BTW: If you like the Stainless look, now would be a great time to get it done. :)
James did it to his when the Shield first came out and posted about it here (reply #9).

My heart goes out to ya! I know some would just look at it as a adding character but I feel your pain. I like to keep them looking like new for as long as i can too.. That looks like it will clean up some though. Good luck! George

I feel your pain, but trust me, it's nothing:

Thanks, that explains it. I'm not a fan of multipurpose holsters or thumb breaks.

Lessons learned. like they said above, you get what you pay for. It's just to hold me over until I get one ordered from PJ or along those lines. And i only wanted to thumb break for added peace of mind that it wouldnt magically jump out of my holster on the Harley!!

From what i can see, that's not a scratch...that is a rub mark...which left a deposit. I don't see any indentation. I've seen this before...it might be difficult to get off, until you find the right solvent / cleaner / scrub.

Good luck...I doubt that I'd worry about it, but then I think of guns as tools. BTW, there's no way that I'd send that gun off to have the slide refinished, unless you want to put it in a glass case and never use it.
