How do you carry you BUG?

I recently purchased a pre-model 10 with a 2" barrel for the purpose of a backup to my full-size 1911. I always carry the .45 on my right hip between 3 and 5 o'clock. I'm just curious as to how some of you choose to carry your secondary sidearm. Holster suggestions are also very welcome.

That revolver is a little big for pocket carry. I have a Model 64 with 2" barrel and it's one of my least used revolvers. It pretty much needs to be carried on the hip, and if I'm gonna be carrying a revolver on my hip it will be an N Frame.

Pocket or ankle holster. Ankle is slower to get to. Mine are small so no problem with these two carry positions mostly pocket, when I do carry a BUG.

I like a 642 J frame in the left front pocket.
The K may be a bit large unless you customize the pockets.
For a K frame I would look at the Bianchi R9 AKA Steve McQueen Bullet type holster. It is fast and pretty comfortable for the J frame I have.
Much depends on how you will be dressing.Jacket etc.
The cross draw never concealed well for me so I gave up on that one a long time ago. Avoid center of the back it could well cripple you in a fall or auto accident.
I can not ankle carry with boots on so gave up on it as well.
Has anyone appendix carried the K frame?
Or you can sell me the 2 inch 10 and get a J? Just thinking here. :)
I carry a 3 inch 686 or 66 with the J BUG and common +P 38s for reloads in a speed strip and Simply Rugged pouch.

I don't. Doesn't seem necessary to me in my rather quiet life in retirement. I'm content with a J-frame and a Speed Strip.

If I did it would probably be a gnat-weight piece like a Kel-Tec P11, in a hip-pocket holster.

I really can't imagine carrying a full-sized 1911 and a K-frame snubby. Guess I live a pretty sheltered life in my old age. And I mean to keep it that way.

I carry a Glock 27 in a velcro holster that attaches to my vest when I work Armed Security. Out of uniform, I carry a Sig p238 in a pocket holster.

My old department did not allow back ups. Now that I've retired I can carry one.

I either have my Colt .25 in my back pocket, or a model 37 in a coat pocket, a pants pocket, or an ankle holster. Pocket holster is a MIKA, ankle is a Renegade.

Way too much gun for a BUG. Some might disagree...as you might...but I bet if you try it with a full size 1911 you won't last long....get a 5 shot j-frame for pocket or ankle....preferably an airweight.

I don't carry a BUG, but if I did it would be a J Frame in my front pocket in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster - in fact that is my primary CCW and that's how I usually carry it if it's not on my hip in a Kramer OWB holster. A M10 is a bit too large, heavy & bulky for a true BUG (hide-out gun) IMHO. If the M10 was your primary I could see it being carried on the belt as it is also too heavy big and heavy for an ankle rig.

This is just my opinion of course, but after carrying a CCW for 35 years I've come to know what works and what is really uncomfortable. My FIRST CCW was a 2" M10 and I sold it after a year of toting it around. It was just too bulky and heavy for the one extra shot advantage over that my M60-7. Yes, the J Frame takes a bit more practice to shoot well because of its lighter weight and smaller size, but well worth it IMHO.

I realize you are asking for suggestions on how to carry what you have, but I have to agree with Sip. What you have is really too large physically for me to consider it a BUG. My BUG in the fall, winter and spring (or when I will be in a warm, indoor environment for quite some time where leaving my jacket on isn't practical) is the same as my primary in the summer - J-frame, Model 38, right front pocket in a DeSantis Nemesis.

Edit: Guess I type too slowly - Chief 38 beat me saying it.

Carry my BG 380 in either IWB or pocket holster. I use the pocket holster if my pockets are deep or if I have my shirt tucked. My IWB isn't tuckable.

I carry either my Model 36 in an ankle holster or a Beretta Nano9 in and ankle holster, my main carry is a 439 in a Crossbreed super tuck

Vote +3 for 442/642 etc in front pocket in a DeSantis Nemesis.

I thank all of you for your opinions and ideas. For those of you doubting I can carry both guns- people said the same thing when I said that I was planning to carry a Full-sized 1911 in the summer. I actually have pants with very deep pockets (one of which I can and have pocket carried the 1911 in) so pocket carry isn't truly off the table. I'm also considering using my coat pocket in the winter. Does anyone choose to carry in this manor in winter and how practical is it?

Hi. I like your idea of carrying a model 10 snubbie. I think you should try it in a front pocket with a pocket holster. I too carry a fullsize 1911 and used to carry a model 10 in my coat pocket. It all comes down to grips and how well you can shoot the gun with the smallest grips. I won the revolver division at a steel match with my model 10. It is accurate and can be very fast. Do what you feel is right. Fifteen shots without a reload sounds good to me.

I have an Airweight that goes either in the pocket or on the ankle. I've considered IWB, but am afraid I may forget about it.

ETA:
My primary is a full size 1911 as well. With a couple shirts layered and a good holster, it is easy to pull off. The revolver is so light, I carry it instead of an extra mag.

I haven't seen anyone here say you couldn't do it. I said I couldn't imagine me doing it, and several have said they thought you'd get tired of doing it fairly quickly. But if you feel the need to carry two full-sized handguns (even if one has a short barrel) in order to be safe, go for it.

As for coat pocket carry, I personally don't like it. Maybe if I had something of equal weight to balance the load on the off side it would be more comfortable. Without that it feels awkward and unbalanced, even with an all-steel J-frame. I would never do it without a good pocket holster that would firmly hold the gun positioned for the draw.

As to the coat pocket thing I may, depending on circumstances, shift my Model 38 from my front pocket to a coat pocket and then back again. Like Shouldazagged my retirement life is tame and I do not carry a BUG.

I have a left and a right DeSantis mini-scabbard. Into which I insert one of my 642 or 342's
I can carry one on each side at 4 and 8 O'clock or
just one on one side or the other.
If I lose use of one hand, then the other is available (in theory).
This way I have 10 rounds instead of the controversial 5 shots.
I'm 6'1"/185lbs so two little snubys aren't uncomfortable.

This is a great idea if you practice so much with the non dominant hand that it's fighting the dominant hand for the chance to shoot. I used to shoot with both hands a lot practicing for sass. Now the left hand has a mind of its own and I don't feel complete without shooting with it at the range.
