Guy I work with brought in a large whitetail deer that he harvested with a bow. The deer had a NICE 10 point rack with a wide spread. Then he pointed out that the deer had no testicles and a small udder and male member (will that get by the sensors?). I've never heard of a hermaphrodite deer but this sure seemed to be an example. He's contacted Cabelas to see if they're interested in it so who knows, it may be on display somewhere.

this is interesting, usually deer with genetic defects don't grow large antlers. do you have a picture of the deer?

It happens, along with antlered does. Usually the antlers don't get very large, though.
I am from California and usually hunt Blacktail/Muley crossbreeds. The weirdest I have come across are bucks with one or no testicles. That makes for weird, fuzzy thick antlers, lots of mass without a lot of overall size.

He took some digital picts and is supposed to e-mail them to me. The antlers were still in velvet, which from what we found on the net is odder still.

It may just be a eunuch, or "stag" buck. The ones I referred to were in the velvet also, long after the others were hard horned. Hormone issues I suppose. It may even explain the udder.

Small package/big rack....tend to hang out more in urban areas, I think. More than a few in Sip's neck of the woods....

I once killed a pretty nice 8 point buck the day after Thanksgiving, still in full velvet. As I remember, it did not have testicles.

I do not recall an udder.

Maybe that is why as I get older, the tops of my ears get fuzzier....

Cactus Buck

Our Rocky Mountain Mule Deer with the same condition are called Cactus Bucks, antlers in velvet and no bag. I've seen several over the years. Usually over 200 lbs with 4 points or better.

A friend of ours shot a nice 5 pt bull elk, that had female pluming. Horns .were normal

This season I killed a doe that had nubs on her head just like those on a button buck.
No other anomalies noted.
