I am pushing around the idea of doing a color fill on my carry firearm. I was thinking white. I am looking for examples of different colors. Also what is the best to use.. Model paint.. Nail polish.. Something else..? And is it easy to remove later on?

I colored mine in with white nail polish.

Fill in the letters and let it dry for a few seconds.
Gently wipe over the area with non-acetone nail polish remover.
Let it dry again.
Repeat until letters are filled to your satisfaction.
(Took me maybe 4 or 5 coats)

Total time spent - 10 minutes or so.

I did my Shield in black fingernail polish. If you look at it just right, the lettering is glossy against the matte black slide. Very subtle.

used testors gold #1104 I think. "Non acetone" nail polish remover or odorless mineral spirits.

Also rem oil will smear it if you wipe gun on occasion. I mostly do it because it looks good and I'm bored, then remove it after a few weeks.

Bottom plastic is white out.

How easy is it to remove? I don't want to have to put anything on the gun that will do anything to the actual finish..

See post #4. ;)

When i read that i tought te polish remover might fall into te groove and mess up the lettering.

I mean im visualizing dapping the area with a polish brush, so id imagine pretty good coverage aroung the lettering.

You just dampen a cloth with the nail polish remover and lightly wipe across the area.
It'll take a few coats to fill in.

I went with metallic Silver also, easy to see but not as bright as white. I used Rustoleum

i took the slide into work while working 7pm to 7am...having almost all of the pantone colors available, i tried lots...i ended with the silver for that reason...but i almost went with a metallic gold...

Nylon brush and a good gun cleaner, I use Ed's Red, takes it off lickety split. Mine was white at first and I will most likely remove the color it has now the next time I clean the gun.
