Just wondering if anyone here has tried, drinks some on occasion or on a daily basis-any of those so-called Energy Drinks? Also, do any ACTUALLY give you any noticeable ""energy or energy boost?""

I drink the Monster Moca Loca, almost every morning and I dont notice gaining any extra energy boosts. It does taste good and the nutrition info is pretty good meaning with the kind of sugar and fat content I can live with.

I use to drink them (Monster Java and Monster Import) all the time in college. By the time finals were over and I turned in all my research papers, I would crash hard and get sick for a week from caffeine withdrawal. I'm talking fever, sweats, sore throat, cough, severe drowsiness, etc. I did graduate with a 3.53 GPA so I'm not going to complain too much. I avoid that stuff like the plague now. I don't even drink soda any more. If I want caffeine I'll drink iced tea or coffee.

I've used 5-Hour energy, and while not a common thing for me to drink, it is effective without making me jittery, doesn't taste too bad, and it truly does not have a 'crash' at the end of it's effectiveness.

Use sparingly.

Ive never tried it but am looking for something to take about midday that works. Ive tried that Red Bull, and it did nothing for me and tasted like expensive Apple juice.

When we travel, I always get drowsy behind the wheel after a few hours...so, I've started drinking a 5 hour energy drink when I start feeling sleepy. It doesn't last five hours, but I get a good "wake up" for a couple of hours at least.

I prefer to drink coffee....a cup of coffee is about the same equivalent caffeine wise, but the energy drinks don't make me need to pee as often as coffee does. Plus, it's hard to find good coffee on the road.

I also love the Java Monsters (every flavor) as well as Monster M-80 and Red Bull. However i am a big time coffee drinker as well so my body seems nearly immune to the effects of caffeine these days.

I can drink one if I'm sleepy and it will help keep me from being drowsy for maybe 45 minutes by otherwise I no longer feel the effects :(

I enjoy the Monster Absolute Zero. That is my "coffee" fix. Driving home after 12 hour shift can be a challenge on occasion and it has helped keep me awake.

I've found the 5-hour energy drinks to be effective for a couple-three hours, with no real aftereffects. Probably no better than a cup of coffee, but a lot more convient to carry. I keep a couple in glove box.

Now if you want a REAL eye-opener, try a Double-Mocha Cappuchino Alert, from WaWa. :D That stuff will pop your eyes open I tell you.

The reason you need something half way through the day is because you're crashing off the caffeinated corn syrup you drank when you woke up.

I do eight hours of sleep a night and a mix of green and black teas and some exercise to get my endorphins going when I wake up and I'm good for the day.

Problem is that these energy drinks are routinely sold to children, with no limit on purchases. They are getting addicted. Red Bull was the special favorite at a store where a friend of mine worked. Some kids were buying several a day.

Adults can do what they want with these beverages--I choose not to use them because I've been told it's not good for my blood pressure and I don't like the feeling they produce in me. But many doctors are on record as saying they are dangerous for growing kids' hearts. I really believe they shouldn't be sold to anyone under eighteen.

Yeah, yeah, "more regulation, blah, blah". But children need to be protected if they are endangering their health in ways other than pigging out on fast food, playing video games to the exclusion of exercise, or skateboarding into stuff.

YM, as always, MV.

the saying at our house is "grandpa-grandma try this" from the grandkids so I have tried it all and found none I care for enough to pay the ridiculous amount they want for them...I do use 5 hour when driving for long periods and it works well for me...I start my day with one cup of coffee and a 2 mile walk...gets me going in the morning

The Monster coffees are actually my favorites but I usually take a Red Bull when I go to work. Not many people know it but "Red Bull" is actually Japanese for "Tastes like urine." :D

Yes, it gives me energy but a couple vitamin B caps in the AM do just as well.

Try the "Zipp Fizz" powder from Costco. It's basically a vitamin bomb that works really well.

...

I take it that you speak of the caffeine being the addictive substance. If that be the case (and it is) we should be equally outraged at the amount of Coke/Mountain Dew/Dr. Pepper, etc. that kids consume (and I am). Funny thing is, if it comes from soda, people aren't nearly as concerned (and they should be).

I know I have been hitting coffee pretty hard since the time I was about 14. And don't anyone DARE mention decaf and coffee in the same sentence!
