Most Overrated OR Underrated Hand Gun, In Your Opinion?

Hello all:

If these questions have been posed then please shut it down and tell me where it is, I would like to visit it OK?

What is the most over-rated handgun IYO?

Why?

What is the most under-rated handgun IYO?

Why?

For information, I just brought home and took to the range a 38 special, 4" barrel, hand eject, 5 screw. It shoots great to be around 100 years old. Has some "Pretty issues" but shoots as good as anything I have bought new "out of the box."

I think it to be one of the most underrated today? But maybe not in the past?

Accurate, low recoil, etc; and I know it has caused a love affair for its duration. And probably will continue.

If I had one, I'd sell it in a heart-beat! The silly prices people are paying for them is just amazing. I much prefer Model 27's for finish, looks, and actions (for both feel and longevity). Much better value.

Overrated? I'd say the 1911 pattern .45 ACP. They are great handguns (my favorite auto-loader), but really aren't for everybody. They take practice to utilize them effectively and attention to get them to work at their peak.

Underrated? I always liked the 1076 and haven't seen too many cheerleaders for that pistol or 10mm.

Overrated: GLOCK. I've owned some in the past, don't own any now, and, will not own any in the future.

Underrated: S&Ws with the internal lock. I understand the politics but the firearms are still exceptional.

Lot of Python hate! I think they're very good guns, but can see the annoyance when a worn out Python is bringing more money than a nice Pre-27. However I still think the Colt is a fine revolver; even alongside my Shooting Master, Pre-29, and 27's.

Overrated = Glock----ugly-----dangerous----plastic-----did I say ugly?
Overrated = S&W Model 28-----Nothing wrong with them, but for the prices they command, there are a bunch of other S&Ws that are much more desirable, to me anyhow.

Underrated = most any quality .38 special revolver. Not here, but most folks in the general gun-buying public think they aren't powerful enough and don't hold enough ammo.

Don't know about over rated but the S&W .40 Sigma is very underrated. It bites on both ends and mine at least has never failed. If it had a better trigger I'd rate it as good as the M&P.
