It seems to me lately that my best sources for 3rd. generation autoloaders are pawnshops.
Not a lot of gun stores where I live (Northwest Washington State), but quite a few pawnshops.
Everyone is trading in Granddad's old shooter to buy the latest in Tactical Finery.
Most pawnshops are pricing every old model 10 as a priceless treasure. There has been a 39-2 nickel on Armslist @ $900 with no box and papers and it sure ain't new in the box.
My latest deal was a year in the making.
I spotted a 3913 TSW 9 Tactical (OK tactical finery), mint, 1 mag, no box or papers, in a Pawnshop near Seattle, last year.
He had some neat stuff. A 457@$540 (if you are looking PM me), and a 15-3 for $450. No bargains
He wanted $690 and would not budge.
Every 3 months or so I would visit it and try to do a deal.
Nada.
Last week I went by, still there.
I had decided the price was ahead of the market, but it would catch up.
The owner wasn't there and his son was.
New game.
Offered $600.
He immediately went for it.
Looks unfired, I have played with it enough to burnish barrel contact points.
The barrel contact point on the on the frame was barely marked. No finish wear on hammer, etc.
So I bought a new 3913 TSW for less than when it was new.
This will be a shooter and carry gun.
By coincidence I was able to purchase a new 7 round 3913 magazine with the metal floor plate.
It was on Ebay with no bids 'til the final seconds.
The 3914 Ladysmith you see will be the focus of my next post in this series.
