I'm an old guy with eyes that aren't too good. At the indoor range, I have trouble seeing the rear sights which are black with no dots. This leads to trouble putting the front sight midway between the rear sights.
Anybody have a suggestion?

Same as you my friend!! I used some "white out" to highlight the front blade and also covered the rear sight to provide some contrast. Some folks use nail polish. I need all the help I can get!!

I put a Dawson FO rear sight on my M&P22 for the reasons stated. However, to get it to shoot to point of aim, I had to use a HiViz front sight (the Dawson was too tall).

I bought a HiViz front sight and use it with the stock black rear. The visibility at the indoor range is not nearly as good as in the sun, but it's way better than the white dot front. I just ordered Dawson Precision front and back fiber optic sights which a lot of people like. I'll see if the FO rear sight works better indoors than the plain black one for picking up the front sight.

I am 69-years-old, with ageing eyes and still shoot IDPA and Steel Challenge. All my guns now have fiber optic front and rear sights on them.
The Dawson's work fine, but the front fiber is the same size as the rear ones at .040. This makes the front one look smaller. I now install Williams Gunsight fiber optic sets. They use the .040 fiber in the rear, but .070 in the front. Makes a huge difference.
Here's a photo of my M&P 22 with them on.

Thank you for posting that. I am 62 and the old eyeballs aint what they used to be. I really like my M&P, in my opinion it is the best semi-auto .22 LR around and it shoots like my larger 9mm at a fraction of the cost. I will be paying my gunsmith a visit to get the Williams sights installed. I suppose I should get them on the 9mm M&P also.

Thanks again, that is very useful info.

Forgot to mention: Williams Gunsight makes them for the M&P and M&P22, in fixed and adjustable. I recommend the adjustable for the little bit extra they cost. They do sit higher though, so make sure any holster you have fits over the front sight.

Well, I liked the picture of the Williams sights so much that I ordered them (adjustable)from Gander Mountain. Hope they arrive soon. Thanks for the helpful responses!

I just ordered the adjustable Williams Firesights for both my M&P 22 and my M&P Pro 9, also. This thread is confirming how well they work and making me even more anxious for them to get here so I can install them. :)

Are the Williams Firesights essentially the same thing as the ones made for the Ruger 22/45? I had a set on a 22/45 Lite that worked well, the M&P22 is probably going to be my next purchase and I'd like a set for it if they're as good as the others I had.

The one for the M&P22 has the full rear sight, whereas the Ruger 22/45 is only the center part of the rear sight. You just have to remove the pivot pin, watch out for the spring underneath and replace that part of the sight.
