So far the thing has been fantastic. I figure now it's time to give her a few upgrades.

- BCM Low profile gas block
- MI DPMS KeyMod rail
- AAC 51T
- ALG QMS

I suppose I could have done the flash hider and trigger myself, but I figured as long as they have it apart, why not.

I'll post a few pictures when it's done. Good times!

EDIT - Forgot to add that I asked them to look at the size of the gas port on the barrel as well. I want to make sure it's sized properly. That seems to be a theme with adding a low-profile gas block to the M&P 10.

Looking forward to hearing what they have to say about the gas port and seeing the pics!

Also, can you clarify which trigger you went with and if there is a link to it so I can research it? Thanks.

She's finally home from the smith. Hopefully I'll get it out this weekend. Here it is with the Vortex Viper installed. The ALG trigger is very smooth with a crisp break. Love, love, love ALG triggers.

How does the rail fit? Does it move or is it solid? New to the s&w and have read on every other rail except this one. Seems like it is the lightest also. Im going to use my 10 for hunting so weight is an issue.

The rail is great. Very solid construction, and a very tight mating with the upper receiver. The rail lines up perfectly (on mine anyway). I like the QD points, and all of vents/keymod holes for cooling, weight savings, etc.

I picked this one because of the issues I've read of not just the Troy tubes, but also the company itself. I simply will not patronize them.

There didn't seem to be any other viable options for what I was looking for. I do like the fact that, on their website, Midwest Industries is using an M&P10 image to advertise a DPMS grip, with regards to the photos.

Hope this helps.

Thats what I needed to know. I will be ordering the 15" version today. As well as there lp gas block. Thanks for the info

No he said it looked fine for a 308/7.62, whatever that means. Time will tell though. Still haven't been out with it. Family busyness.

12" version. I considered the 15" version but wanted to keep weight away from the end of the barrel, and if I can find someone to do it cheaply, I might have the barrel cut down a bit.

EDIT - I should have corrected the photo before I posted it. If you'll notice, the AR (pinned 14.5) is fully extended while the M&P10 is collapsed. I should have collapsed the AR or extended the M&P. Ah well. Apologies.

It's all good. Thanks. When I get my 14.5" back from ADCO, I'll post a pic. We have very similar tastes.

Did your gunsmith have to do anything special with the gas block?
Nice gun!

I replaced my gas block with a YHM low profile gas block and I caught hell driving out the gas tube roll pin I couldn't get it to budge (no its not tapered) I broke 3 punches and ended up using a grinder with cutting wheel and very carefully cut the old gas block off the gas tube. Caution the gas tube on the M&P10 is proprietary......it is longer than a mid length, but shorter than a rifle length gas tube you can only get one through S&W and they aren't in a hurry to ship it.

Drilling usually works for removing stubborn pins without damaging the other parts
