Just bought a new SUV, and got the three-month promotional Sirius plan.
So far I like it. Here in New Mexico and around the four corners, you run in and out radio coverage, especially FM, every time you cross another ridge.
Yesterday I got an offer in the mail that included a year for $99.
Mostly so far I listen to Willie's Roadhouse.
How many you guys think its worth paying for?

nope.... we have it in moms car, but only did the freebie months.... they send a letter with a great deal once you have been disconnected for a month or two, and then continuously the rest of your life, it seems (last was $25 for six months I think)... just not worth it.... all the "premium" channels are more $$, and the stupid thing cuts out under gas stations, etc..... ymmv.....

A year at $99 isn't bad. I usually wait until they offer 6 months for $25. I get it for the summer and then quit before they can charge for more service. I get these offers all the time and use them when I intend to drive a lot.

It's relative.
If you often find yourself covering some territory. Yeah, you could justify it.
urban dwellers only think so.
It's signal is blocked by tall buildings and overpasses

Great variety!! BUT, one of my peeves is when a song begins to play and a DJ keeps on talking through the song up until the lyrics begin...happened a lot with Sirius. Cancelled my subscription for that reason. I had assumed that Sirius was DJ free.

I have been on XM Radio for over a year now and LOVE IT. I have not listened to local radio since getting it. Yea, it does cut out on occasion but only for a second or two and I can tolerate that. The variety is awesome and not having to surf radio stations on long road trips makes it worth every penny. Well worth the $14 a month.

We've had XM Radio in our "travelling" vehicle for 13 years now. That's all my wife listens to. She then got a unit for the house and I got one for my Harley.

I have it on a promotional deal right now too. I haven't made up my mind about it, but everyone tells me once the free period runs out you'll get several offers. $50 a year seems to be their best offer.

The one thing I don't like is the DJ blather. If I'm going to pay for music, give me music. Not some DJ who likes to hear himself talk. The DJs are why I'm leaning against renewing. Cousin Bruce seriously needs to stick a sock in it.

I first had it in 2007 and paid for one year after the 90 day trial. Initially, there were very few, if any, commercials and DJ chat back then. By the end of the year they were playing nearly as many commericals as free FM and I'm not going to PAY to have to listen to commercials. Just not gonna do it.

My current 2013 Ford Taurus had the 90 day trial and if anything the commercials for paid radio seems to have gotten worse, so no, I didn't renew.

i had xm for a few years shortly after they started...loved it...i had the kind of receiver that i could take in the house and the car...there was a lot of variety and few commercials...then it started to get more repetitive with more and more commercials. i cancelled my subscription a few years ago...even though i hate all of the local radio stations...i find music on slacker when at home and buy the songs from itunes or amazon and burn them to cd's for in the vehicle...

I got it free for a year when I bought my truck, I liked the adult comedy channel, sometimes it was hard to drive and laugh at the same time, a few times I had to pull over.:)

You can get much better deals, just call and threaten to cancel, they'll transfer you to another agent. They figure better to get a few bucks than not.
I love mine, have them in 3 cars.

When our trial subscription ended we just let them turn it off. After them calling with "Special Deals" for about 2 months they finally came down to a price that was agreeable. We got the "Everything" package for about 1/2 of their advertised price. If they try to raise the price after a year we will cancel again and begin the negotiating process all over again.

Had XM free in my new car for six months. I probably turned it on for a total of 10 minutes. Obviously I did not renew.

I connect my iPhone to the sounds system through bluetooth and listen to Pandora, audio books, and Rush Limbaugh via internet when I travel.

I've had it for 3 years and will continue to pay for it. I paid $105 last time for 12 months of service. That amounts to 29 cents a day. i listen to it everyday and would miss it if it stopped. Negotiating the best deal possible is the key.
