Mailed off the $$$ today for a NIB 327 TRR8.
$1200.00 shipped, best price I could find.
Not all that easy to come by right now.
Intended use will be a Range / Home gun.
Have not had the pleasure of trying one out.
What can I expect? My 1991 8 3/8" 629 Classic has been my benchmark for triggers (since 1991). Have put thousands of rounds through it.
Should this be a big step up from the old 629?

Thanks! Really looking forward to this one!

Eceptional single action trigger...Exxcellent weight balance, Awesome 8 round capacity, Lighter than expected...VERY accurate with very reasonable recoil...Just an all around superb gun....Sorry about your wait but drooling over other TRR8's is permissible until yours arrives..Here is a start..

Thanks! G-10 looks great!

I wonder how many have been made of these by now?
7-8 yrs right? I also heard S&W keeps that stuff secret... LOL LOL

I was pricing 27's and then just threw in the towel.

Great news on the SA, Its nice to be surprised when they go off.

Expect a gun that will beg you to take it to a Steel Challenge match.

It will probably be the best DA trigger you ever felt on a Smith. Balance is great even with 357 loads. Now I had the R8 but is basically the same thing. I was told the rifling is different between the R8 and the TRR8. The R8 does not like lead bullets. It leaded up the barrel on mine. I do not know if the TRR8 will have the problem but the rifling in the barrel in the R8 is not your traditional rifling. I think it is called ECM rifling or something like that. Someone who is more knowledgeable than me can chime in. Nice choice by the way! You will be happy with it!!

fun, you can expect fun! i have a 327 pc that i love. 8 rounds of .357. it equates to about about 4,000 lbs of muzzle energy... ka-boom! enjoy man!

It's a great house gun and a fun range gun. Very accurate with very light recoil using .38s. You'll love it. They are hard to find.

Thanks! Bought some ammo online today, 4 flavors all FMJ. Thanks for the tip! Its going to be a while....... Due to the stupid one gun per month law we have here. I pick up the 1953 K22 on the 30th, so this one should be about the 20th of July! Up-date. As the old K22 was a PPT, no 30 day wait.

This is not the case with my R8. All it ever gets is lead bullets. No leading at all. It is very accurate.

My handloads are sized to .358 and are mid range .38 specials. 120gn LRNFP.

Add me to the TRR8 crowd.
Have a new one on the way, 1149 shipped, which was the best I could find.
As its an N-Frame, I'm hoping that they haven't downsized the grip frame to K size like was done on the X-Frames.
Plan to ditch the Hogue and substitute the new 629 grip, much more to my liking.

Great price on the TRR8! Beat me by $50.00! :o)
(And I got them down $80.00)

Here is the most accurate, best trigger I have owned. Picked it up in 1991. Great gun minus the weird rust pit on the carbon steel scope mount. The bigger frame just seems to fit. After searching for a used 27-2 the TRR8 became a no brainer.

Put the scope on in 1997. Even kept the old targets from sighting it in. LOL LOL

Could easily become your favorite gun.
Great balance, soft shooter, great looks.
Best s/a trigger i've owned. Not bad in the d/a mode either, still breaking mine in.
Great buy, you'll love it.
Stay safe,
Jim

Filled out the paper work today.
Great, No, Perfect balance, VG S/A trigger. But the D/A? Oh MAN! This one is amazing in D/A.
Its going to be a long 10 days.
Thanks again to those who pointed me in the right direction.

My new TRR8 arrived at the LGS yesterday. Got lucky and scored it at a great price.
Store owner handled it and was immediately on the phone searching for one for himself.
Did a quick test firing and the gun exceeded all expectations.
Have to ditch that awful Hogue grip and mount the rails and it will be GTG.
Photos coming soon.

Groo here
I have one with a Reddot
Dad used to get a deer last year [ His 80th year ]
One shot ,leverevolution 357 ,30yds, All Done!!!!!!!!!!!
Clay birds at 100yds shutter with fear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cleaned it up and mounted the rails tonight.
Those rails are BEEFY! That should really dampen things in rapid fire.
Other impressions.
The moonclips really seem frail. I'm used to the heavy duty 625 ones. These will need careful handling for sure.
Feels MUCH better with these 629 grips installed.
Have a Picatinny base for the Burris Fastfire 3 is on order, too.
And, of course, the obligatory picture to prove it really did happen:

You guys were right. This one shoots better than I do.
200 rnds today, and I could tell it was me as I had up and down vertical strings. Not much side to side so I know it was me. Love the gold front site! That's about it. A couple of my targets were 8 shots in a straight 3" line. Had not seen that before other than with peep sites. No expert here but that tells me the gun is spot on. Just need younger eyes.......... :)

Groo here
Once you get use to the weight [ lack there of ] you will find the gun
will fall into the groove well.
Most are expecting a gun of that size to be much heaver.[great for woods carry]
I would suggest a look at Simple Rugged chest holsters or others
as this gun begs to be carried and used.

My new TRR8 is headed back to S&W for correction of a problem of light strike misfires in DA shooting.
Wonder if the fix will be to just swap in a heavy mainspring in place of the Wolff unit it was issued with.
