No more business from me. WalMart is directly across the street, gunowners are welcome there. Plan to send a msg for what its worth to the Target CEO....probably won't change his/her mind but will make me feel better to vent! Will remind him that I was loyal even after they gave up my credit card number to hackers but no more.

I don't care if posted or just "asked not to." They are for the other
Side. That would be the side opposite my rights as licensed chl holder. They don't need my blessing, nor MY business. If we would vote with our feet a lot of this mess would never have happened.

They weren't on the other side until OCT started its actions and as a result they were forced to take sides and it wasn't our side. One has to wonder if OCT is funded by Bloomberg and other anti gun groups.

Moms That Demand Gun Sense In America presented Target with 400,000 signatures to insure "gun free safe shopping". Allegedly!
Target complied by "respectfully asking customers to not bring guns into their stores even in areas where it is legal." This is the chains position and I will comply and take my business elsewhere! You gonna spend your $ at Target? Not me.

I believe open carry is a right. I also think it is a stupid idea.

But the only thing more stupid than open carry is the way some of these "advocates" behave. I carry a gun and extra ammo everywhere. And I love the 2nd Amendment. But even I don't want to be shopping next to yahoos with ARs slung over their shoulders, grinning ear to ear because they are just so excited to have people see them with their big gun.

I mean, hey, I like going to the shooting range. But I hate it when yahoos come in there and start acting like fools. Just because we both like guns doesn't mean I have to think they are acting appropriately. That's kinda how I feel about these open carry guys burning corporate bridge after corporate bridge and setting up the movement for serious setbacks at a time when we are otherwise kicking butt and taking names on the antis.

There is a group in another state (California perhaps?) that used to go out and make their statement about open carry by open carrying unloaded revolvers. They were extremely low key and made the excellent point that when you open carry, most people don't notice. This is the complete opposite of some of the slacker dudes I've seen posting their custom-AR selfies from the counter of some national coffee/burger/taco chain.

I can hardly blame Target on this one, I really can't.

This is a direct result of the "in your face" approach of people who think it's ok to walk into a public place with a loaded rifle carried openly. What in the world happened to common sense??? Let's face it, if you are in a minority and you flaunt things that upset the majority, accept the negative consequence. I am all in favor of right to carry, but let's not be stupid about it. If you carry a loaded AK into ANY store, you're going to cause a fuss, and then don't whine when you don't like the result....I'll bet your local gun store doesn't allow you to open carry a loaded weapon into their place of business....Geez, sometimes we are our own worst enemy.

Thank you sjshooter and rljr1, I was looking for the right words but I think you two covered it pretty well. I am a supporter of 2a and firearm (many) owner but supporting the 2a doesn't mean I lose common sense. If any of think your refusal to visit target again matters a hoot, you are sadly mistaken. They do care about the 400,000 mothers that buy diapers and clothes for their kids. If you want to be heard in a meaningful manner, get your own petitions, just don't stick them in your holster.

My understanding was it was directed at open carrying, and not at concealed carrying. And this decision was as a result of open carry movement.

A few guys with ARs , AK's or SKS with very large magazines draped across their shoulders succeeded in creating a negative response at Target and in the general public.

With friends like those yahoos, who needs enemies?

I wonder if we sent a petition asking for "whiny brat child free shopping" if they'd also ask for people to leave them home :)

To my knowledge, Target had no problem allowing carrying until a bunch dropped in carrying ARs and AKs. At least ninety percent of all businesses would change policy if these guys showed up. They would be shown the door real fast if it were my business. Unfortunately, open carry may become synonymous with this type of thing.

For years I kind of felt a little sorry for the extreme open carry types. It's kind of sad that the only way they can get any attention is to do something, so silly as to walk into a business carrying a battle rifle, and bandoleers of ammo strapped across their body.

Yet, lately these clowns have made all of us, involved in the shooting sports, look like uneducated redneck clowns. I for one am sick and tired of there of their antics, which make all of look like fools in the eyes of the public at large.

How would ya like one of those fine looking young men show up at your home to take your daughter out on a Saturday night:eek:?

That wouldn't work. Actually, it doesn't even look like a good way to defensively armed oneself anywhere other than somewhat open spaces. I suspect a real criminal would take these things away from these guys pretty easily by getting in close.

Well, I don't have a daughter but if one of those yahoos showed up to take my granddaughter out on a Saturday night, I would show him my M1 Garrand battle rifle and tell him, "Get off my lawn!"

Remember when the Occupy Movement was staying in all those parks and such? They were being watched by Atlanta police but more or less being left alone until some of these guys showed up carrying AK's. APD shut them down and moved them out the next night.
