Strange/odd names for towns/places I'll start

Not to hijack a thread but some of the old place names prior to USGS 'cleaning up" the topo sheets were great. Cathouse NV and Squaw (something) Mountain ID come to mind.

How about Two Dot, Montana. It's the gateway to Roy, Montana

Here in New Mexico we have a town called Truth or Consequences.
It was originally call Hot Springs. Radio show host Ralph Parks offered to do his radio show from the first town that would change its name to Truth or Consequences.

Seems to me I remember that was Ralph Edwards.

Used to listen to the show, as a kid.

Manly Iowa

Here in Iowa we have a town up North called Fertile.

I would just love to tell people I'm a Fertile native.
Jim

Near Fertile is a town called Manly so you can figure out the headline when a man from Manly married a woman from Fertile:D

Jim in Iowa

In southeast Idaho in the Tetons there is a little village nestled there called Squirrel. It used to have a zip code.

Leaveher Montana Two boys fought over a girl so they named the town

Grass Range is fairly descriptive, Two Dot is a old ranch brand and quite a ways from Roy. It isn't a town but Bloody Dick, the old trapper has a lake and a creek named after him. I liked the places that were so boring they just got named after the mile posts. 9 Mile, MT and 24 Mile Idaho.

Here in Tennessee, I lived in Defeated. It was just down the way from Difficult.
Real optimists, here in the ol' Volunteer State.

The area I was in was Bear Wallow Gap, just off of The Devils Elbow.

Although it doesn't appear to exist as a town any more, here in Oklahoma east of Bartlesville there used to be a Hogshooter.

And while the town names themselves are not that unusual, you can string together four Oklahoma names to make an interesting sentence:

Salisaw Henryetta Wagoner Catoosa.

Or alternately:
Salisaw Henryetta Wagoner Bowlegs.

You forgot Slapout. And Gotebo.
