I have a hard time deciding. I guess my hands down favorite is my original production 4513TSW. The one with the 6-round mag. I have carried it daily either as a primary or BUG for over a year and it is always on the nightstand.

Yes, I sometimes bring out the 3913/3914 to briefly replace it when it is above 95 degrees and 98% humidity. But I always seem to go back to it.

I do love those 39XX series guns too. Soooo thin and light weight. My guns for carrying when you really can't carry a gun. ;)

But at work I carry the 4506-1 and 4566. They are VERY comforting. Bet your life reliable and accurate too. Make me look good on qualification days. The weight doesn't bother me because I'm old school and lift weights and eat Wheaties. And I own a really good gunbelt and holsters.

And I sometimes carry my 4516 ND at work. Its the thinnest 3rd gen 45 made. Its really skinny. And perfectly sized. Reliable too contrary to most of what I've read on the net about the 4516 no dash. A great little 45 that doesn't know its a little 45. Shoots like a big gun. Looks good doing all that too!

And then there are those Performance Center guns I have in the safe and take to the range occasionally. I like the Shorty 45 MKII. It will in all probability become my "retirement gun" when.....if I make it to retirement. You know, the gun you keep under the blanket in your wheel chair at the old investigators home. Just in case one of the other raisins gets rambunctious.

The PC CQB guns are pretty nice too except for their triggers which bottom out against the frame as the shot breaks. But they cost a bunch and don't appear to be losing value as the years march by.

So I guess it is hard for me to really decide. Those of you who also are not going to dump your 3rd gen guns, which is your favorite? Regards 18DAI

I am down to four. 2 6906s and 2 5906s which I intend to keep....but I am getting old who knows.....:)

Hands down my 4506-1R3. Next would be a tie between my 5906 & 5903 closely followed by 4003TSW and then my 1006. I would lump all of my DAO gun together (3953, 6946, 4043, 4046) with my 5946 being my least favorite with an extremely heavy trigger.

4506 For Sure!

I only have three 3rd Gen variations. The first is a 4516 followed by a 4506 and my most recent addition, a 5906. And if I could only keep one it would definitely be the 4506. The accuracy of this gun in my hands never ceases to amaze me. Yesterday I shot 50 rounds at ten yards and all five groups averaged about 4 inches. Next week I'm going to move out to 12 and 15 yards.

Damnable hard to pick a favorite amongst the herd.

Let's see... If I use the criteria of which one I most often reach for first to hang on my belt it's going to be the latest incarnation of the 4566TSWSSV I cobbled together. My xxl hands much prefer the fullsize gripframe and at only 3/8" taller than a compact it's just as easily concealed. 8+1 load of Gold-Dots, decock only, night sights & rail free, and wonderfully accurate, what's not to like;) In fact it's in my holster right now as I'm typing. Certainly not the only gun that gets holster time, My Shorty45, 4566TSW, & melonite 4516-1 all see belt duty however, this gun goes with me more than any of the others combined.

If I go by sheer awesomeness it's gotta be the PC4506. I've got a replacement rear sight incomming and a new front on backorder. I might just have to spring for Nill-Griffe grip for this piece. Despite evidence of many long hard miles it's still tight as a vault door and the accuracy is simply superior. This plus one of my old High-Standards would be all I'd need for any 2700 match anywhere.

Bah, when it gets right down to it, they're all my favorites, each and every one, otherwise I wouldn't own them:D And I check around for new favorites every day;)

Cheers
Bill

18DAI....... we've shared posts on threads before....... so you know the answer my ...... my 3913NL with checkered Hogue wood grips and 7round flush fit mag.......

it is backed up by another 3913NL and a couple of 3913/14s set up the same way......

very close on the heals of my NL is my PC 6906 w/ stippled factory grips and modified 5906 mag base plates ( steel & plastic versions).... back up mags are 15round w/ the +2 grip spacer

I also like the steel 5906s and 4566s............. but more than those I have a soft spot for the humble 915 with stippled straight grips......

Like you I have a sleeper in the safe...... one of the PC, all steel, 6906 frame, SD9s .....w/ 4.25 inch barrel.....only a couple of hundred made ...... so....... it's become a safe Queen. 9mm with the recoil of a .22.

I only have 2 a 6906 which is now restricted by NYS law to only have a ten round magazine... Fortunately I have a few mags from back in the Clinton AWB era. I got rid of the larger ones. Like it or not I will stay legal at least for now. (Might sell it in future as it with the 10 rounder mags are in demand here

I have a nice 4516(totally NY legal) fired less than a box of slugs though that, a couple friends are trying to get me to sell to them. Possibly in the future as I really do not like the DA-SA combination of trigger pulls. I have other /better guns for CCW.

Hard to pick a favorite, but I guess my 3914 gets the most use (as in carried). I also have a pre-rail 3913TSW that I love so much it stays in the safe, one of the best triggers on any 3rd gen I've handled. Then again, I feel that the 4040PD is the best .40 for CCW ever and love mine, so.... yeah, I can't really pick just one. :)
