I have a hard time deciding. I guess my hands down favorite is my original production 4513TSW. The one with the 6-round mag. I have carried it daily either as a primary or BUG for over a year and it is always on the nightstand.
Yes, I sometimes bring out the 3913/3914 to briefly replace it when it is above 95 degrees and 98% humidity. But I always seem to go back to it.
I do love those 39XX series guns too. Soooo thin and light weight. My guns for carrying when you really can't carry a gun.
But at work I carry the 4506-1 and 4566. They are VERY comforting. Bet your life reliable and accurate too. Make me look good on qualification days. The weight doesn't bother me because I'm old school and lift weights and eat Wheaties. And I own a really good gunbelt and holsters.
And I sometimes carry my 4516 ND at work. Its the thinnest 3rd gen 45 made. Its really skinny. And perfectly sized. Reliable too contrary to most of what I've read on the net about the 4516 no dash. A great little 45 that doesn't know its a little 45. Shoots like a big gun. Looks good doing all that too!
And then there are those Performance Center guns I have in the safe and take to the range occasionally. I like the Shorty 45 MKII. It will in all probability become my "retirement gun" when.....if I make it to retirement. You know, the gun you keep under the blanket in your wheel chair at the old investigators home. Just in case one of the other raisins gets rambunctious.
The PC CQB guns are pretty nice too except for their triggers which bottom out against the frame as the shot breaks. But they cost a bunch and don't appear to be losing value as the years march by.
So I guess it is hard for me to really decide. Those of you who also are not going to dump your 3rd gen guns, which is your favorite? Regards 18DAI
