The last Ship

One thing I found ominous in last nights show was the Mark Twain quote the doctor said to Tex. "Everyone is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody." I have the feeling somewhere along the way, Tex is going to be a loose cannon.

And yes, the C.O. and X.O. would never leave the ship together like that. Send Tex out with a group of non-rated bosun's mates so you don't lose any skilled people if they don't come back.

I am putting up with stuff like the Commander and the XO leaving the ship at the same time because Adam Baldwin plays the XO.
Waiting for "I was aiming for his head," or another Firefly reference.

The plot had them fueling up at Gitmo, and scavenging fuel from a derelict liner before that. That made a certain amount of sense. Some other stuff, not so much.

We like it. I hope it don't turn into a soap opera, though......and it seems headed that way. Maybe they need to kill off a few main characters....vote in a new captain....raise the Jolly Roger....you know, stuff like that.

I like the show and have watched it from the start. Some of it is far fetched but it's a good story. TNT is putting out some good stuff and giving the old networks a run for thier money.

...the indecisiveness and lack of aggression displayed by the Captain...

I didn't spend much time with the Fleet, but I can tell you that aggression in a Skipper of a guided missile destroyer isn't usually something the Navy works on fostering. ;)

I havent seen it yet but I do like the premise of the show. It reminds me somewhat--of the short-lived Tv seriesthat was on back in the 1980s-called: Supercarrier. That show starred Richard Jaeckel. Shame it didnt work out--I thought it was very good.

"BOOM";)

I was a big fan of The Closer which morphed into Major Crimes. Still like it.

The Last Ship is good but i am afraid it will turn out like LOST. I mean were can the whole story go or end?? The premise is kinda weak also. So this ship and the Russian one are the only ones that survived?? No Subs??

I enjoyed Lots of good old movies like On the Beach

Subs were the first thing that came to my mind with me being an ex-Sub guy. I did notice the Captain had a pair of SS sub dolphins hanging on his wall in the latest episode. Im enjoying it so far.

The first I heard of it... my son ask me if I was gonna watch the "The Last Shi#". As I thought he was talkin' 'bout some fella's last Number 2 in the bathroom... I told him "No... I don't want to know 'bout my last one... and dam sure don't want to think 'bout somebody else's".

Glad me and the boy got that word-misunderstandin' all cleared up.... and I did get to watch it. Do like it so far... although I am a land-lubber.

I have liked the show so far and think that the actress that plays the Doctor is really something to look at. When she was in "Strike Back" my wife would ask me if I liked that actress and I would squirm out of it but yes, she's hot.

Here's a question: (Spoiler Alert)...so, in episode 3 that young couple goes in a speedyboat and blows a hole in the other ship, jumping into the water at the last minute before impact. Fine, but their own ship has sailed away through the narrow straight.

How did they get back to their own ship? How were they rescued? It struck me as about impossible that they would not have been captured or shot in the water but there they were, wet and happy and back on deck by the end of the show. I mean, unless they had a Star Trek transporter, it just didn't seem feasible to me that they could have ever gotten back but maybe I'm missing something or don't know about some simple piece of tech the Navy has for accomplishing such delicate rescues from under the very noses of angry enemy ships they've just blown a non-fatal hole into.

Tiny submersible, ala SEALS. That sort of thing.

Hey, it could happen! :D

i wondered this myself...i did hear the captain say something about a rescue craft...but...ummm they were kinda close to the russian ship...maybe they dived really deep and held their breath until the rescue boat got to them...lol
