You always let others make up your mind? There are more than a few people who are sold on what they're used to and everything else is inferior regardless of whether or not they have any first hand knowledge..:rolleyes: You like your Glocks as do many others so there you go...it's a fine gun...no need for you to have a Smith. But if you think there aren't other quality fantastic plastics out there you'd be wrong.

This, of course, is JMHO and you may disregard at will.:p

switched from a g22 to a m&p40 a few weeks ago for duty work. still have the glock.
 
I like Glock firearms, they are good reliable weapons. However, I shoot M&P's better so that is what I will stick with.

I was/am a huge glock guy. When the no thumb safety shield came out, I snagged one immediately and fell in love. It led me to handle the other m&p offerings again which took me back to when I used to carry m&p (long, cyclic story lol). I have since purchased an m&p full size which will replace my glock 19 and am in the process of selling my glock 26 to find an m&p9c.

I swore I'd never sell my g26, but with the shield, I just can't see why I'll ever grab the g26 again.

ETA - I am keeping the g19. Everyone should own one of them :)

It's hard for me to say that I like a gun manufacturer who has 100+ less years experience than the other. But they are cool to say the least. And they do go bang if needs be.

But i look at glock like I do chubby chicks. They are fun to have. But don't let ur friends see u with them. Because them u will become the guy everyone laughs at while at the range.
 
I recently purchased a S&W M&P R8 as my first revolver and have to say it is a nice firearm. I do not own any other M&P pistols but wouldn't mind getting my hands on one. I am a huge Glock fan and carry the G19 daily.

Interesting timing. I went out shooting yesterday with a friend who recently acquired a 9 mm SHIELD as a carry gun. He is also a Glock owner as am I. We are both passionate revolver lovers. He said he considered a Ruger LC9 or SR9c but hated the trigger on both. Although I found the trigger on the SHIELD not exactly "Glock like", I thought it was easy to get used to. The pistol was accurate and functioned flawlessly through 200 rounds of practice ammo. I also thought it was nicer looking than any picture I've ever seen. The price is reasonable too. I don't see how Glock is not regretting not coming out with a single stack 9. This SHIELD is going to eat their lunch. I'm sold!
 
Herr Glock does as Herr Glock wants. No irreverence intended, it is his Company and Patents. I agree I think they're missing the boat w/o a single stack compact 9. But it is what it is, and we drive on.
I am a big fan of Glocks, I had the first one(a 17) in this area, years ago.
Kokalis did a write up on it in SoF, and sold me. Even with the different grip angle, they are all still very good pistols, well engineered, springy trigger and all. And yeah, hell for tough, too. The 2 things I don't like(and even then, it's not a huge problem1), is the grips are too "square" for my arthritic thumbs, and I just do not shoot a Glock trigger with any degree of tight accuracy. "Minute of Bad Guy", sure, but no really tight groups. I know the gun will do it, it's just me on the springy trigger.
Anyway, I did switch off to M&P's more for comfort than any other reason. Still own a 2nd gen G19. And recently a PPQ. Basic Glock trigger set up the way Glock should be. But anyway, both are great pistols and I keep both.

S&W announced months ago that for the most part they are exiting the CA semi-auto pistol market and everything except for the Shield M&P's and SDVE pistols are being allowed to expire from the roster:

"Unless California changes its position, all M&P pistols other than the M&P Shield, will fall off the roster by August, 2014, due to performance enhancements and other improvements we have made to those firearms. This includes the M&P9c, which has fallen off already and several other M&P models that will fall off by the end of this month. Other models already have fallen off and will continue to fall off for the same reason."

I really like Glocks in concept and execution, however, actually shooting them has me holding onto my steel and alloy framed autos as they shoot so much smoother and point much more naturally.

I can understand the appeal, but they're not for me. I think such guns make ideal military and duty pistols, but I'm sticking to finer things.
 
When I got my CPL, went to the LGS to buy a Glock 26. A friend in my VVA chapter had one, let me handle it, seemed to be what I was looking for. While I was there, I was shown an M&P 9c and that was that. There may be a Glock in my future, but for now, my three M&P's fill the bill.
 
I shot a G19 rental among several other diferent types of pistols before purchasing my M&P.

I just could not get used to the grip angle. The srface of the frame lacked 'bite'. I disliked the plastic guide rod, the plastic sites, and polymer maazines. The lack of a beavertail with a high grip was a problem for me.
