Colt 1911s, followed by a good P35. I carried the 1911A1 below during most of my Iraq tour. It had a Colt frame and a Remington Rand slide. Unfortunately, I had to leave it behind when I left.

I know you hated to leave that one behind. But that's one reason I like Colts, especially the older ones. These days, Glock touts their interchangeability of slides and barrels (and that's good), but the Colts were designed for that before the word "Glock" was even part of our vocabulary. You could have a Colt frame with a Remington Rand slide like yours...have a Colt or a High Standard or a Flannery barrel in it, and an Ithaca trigger. There were over 200,000 1911A1s in WWII that were using safeties and slide stops left over from WWI. And all of those parts went together with very little fitting or no fitting at all. You just slapped them together. Stateside, they had to be inspected, but out in the field, GIs often scrounged parts and did what they had to do to keep shootin'.

My favorite Browning is this 1989 forged-frame MK III that had a few modifications while I was at FT Bragg. 5 lb trigger, mag safety removed, Novak sights and parkerizing the slide was all I had done...

I sure like that Browning, too. I had one I bought in '92, and loved it. It's gone now, though. Much to my regret.

This thing is big , bulky, and ugly as sin, but is an accurate, reliable, and smooth shooter.

I would most definitely say my Remington 1911 R1 Centennial, it is my favorite pistol and my EDC.
With 1 1/2 inch groups 3 in the Bullseye, she is accurate for sure.

I liked my HK P7 PSP so much I bought a second P7 for my son. Both are commercial models, not ex German LE pistols.

Look at those beauties. Sit low in the hand, sight picture straight as a rod, great trigger, and slender profile.....I agree I like the M8 better than the PSP but I would take either..the PSP does get a little hot after repeat firing...Still the P7 is close to perfection....Prices keep going up on the M8..The west German PSP are still available if you look hard.

Beretta, I'm partial to the Type M Inox.

Like Matt.... I've a soft spot for the Beretta's from the single stack Type M, the short slide/barrel Compact and Centurions to the Elite II....... but somehow IMO the M9's extra .2" of barrel just cries out for a "nose job"

Who doesn't love ..... and everyone needs at least one Browning High Power..........and a classic .45 Sig 220 (which replaced my Colts in the mid-80s/ My W. German will shoot clover-leafs at 50 ft.)..........

and my favorite winter carry .45 the unloved (while in production) Sig 245 !

I just picked up a beretta 92. Don't know why I waited so long. I've always wanted a beretta since the early 90s...grew up in the 80s and 90s and loved action movies. I get the old timers who love the 1911, they're not for me. Maybe one day though...

HOPEFULLY i'LL GET TO KEEP LOOKING ANOTHER 2-3 DECADES

Certainly haven't shot all of them but a colt gold cup stands out, tricked out ruger MKll's, if I had to pick it'd be my german SIG p226 just cuz I've had it so long & put so many rounds thru it, but really like my p239 40 cal & p220 45acp.

That's a beautiful old Colt for sure. Just curious...do you shoot it at all?

Thanks for the compliment, most folks think that it needs to be refinished.

I do shoot it. I have heard all about soft metal and poor heat treating, but those guns were made to be used and loved.

I really like the feel of the early guns and this is one of my favorites. I will run 25-50 through at a time as the grip safety is soo short that it pinches my hand every-so-often and I will have a welt on the top of my hand after a box full.

If I win the lotto...

Just because...

or, more likely, a German PPK in .32

Stop showing those H&K P7's please they remind me how stupid I was to sell one of each M8 and PSP...Sometimes my stupidity even amasses me..Why H&K discontinued that model and went to pistol that clone's every other so called modern pistol.....I guess they are as dumb as I have been at times......
