My momma, who turns 84 on this Saturday, had a heart attack over the weekend. I'm heading to the hospital this AM. The surgeon will be checking for blockages, etc. Then we go from there.

Mom had a blocked artery and had a stent put in. However, her GNB levels, which are an indicator of heart disease, were way high. The docs have been giving her meds which draw off fluid and made the heart pump a bit harder.

At present, she has under 50% heart function, but things are definitely looking up!!!

Thanks for all of the prayers.

Well, it has been almost 4 months since her health problems started. She was in and out of the hospital a total of 4 times since late September 2014.

She went to her heart doctor this week (1-22-15) and was told that her heart was now back to normal! But, she has to avoid stress (shouldn't we all?).

Thanks for all of y'all's prayers.

Got at call from the medical center at 11:47 PM last night. Apparently, Mom suffered a brain hemorhage and fell. She has heavy bleeding in her brain and I was advised to come, as it doesn't look good. After calling my brother in CT, I tried to take a nap, as it is a 5 hour drive from my home to Winchester, Virginia. Of course, I haven't slept a wink, waiting for another phone call and the other shoe to drop.

Please pray for a miracle. Of course, neither she nor the rest of the family would want her to be a vegatable.

May God's will be done.

Update, Feb 3rd 2015. Well, the news was as bad as it could be be. Basically, the hemorhage and bleeding caused her brain to fold onto itself and die, which caused her fall. She must have had her phone in her hand and was able to call a neighbor, who called the paramedics. The doctors did all of their tests and there were no positive results. She was being kept "alive" by the breathing tube.

We took her off of live support last night. She and my Pappy are now together in Heaven. Since the Good Lord gives us new bodies, they won't have to shout at each other now, as they were both deaf as posts!

She will be cremated, as was Pappy, and her ashes spread in her favorite places. A memorial service/celebration of life will be held in the spring, after this uncertain weather has passed. It will be at the local Ruritan club that they belonged to for many years.

Many, many thanks to all of the prayers that have been said for her, for me and for my family.

One more update. I talked to her neighbor several days ago and she told me that Mom had called her and said that she had fallen and would she come over and let the EMS in the house to get her back up. She said that Mom sounded fine and didn't appear to be in any stress. When the neighbor got there, Mom was on the floor, unresponsive. I'm so glad it went quick, so that she didn't suffer.

Mom had fallen several times over the last few years. Other than some bruises, she hadn't appeared to have suffered any ill effects.

My only advice is, please talk to or speak to your loved ones as often as possible. Due to distance and finances, I was only able to go up visit her about twice a year. But I called her every night since Pappy died. We may have only spoken for a few minutes, depending on how her day or mine had gone, but we did hear each others voices. That means a lot, to both of us.

Now, when 9:00 PM rolls around, I find myself looking at the clock and the phone.
