So, I finally got my Concealed Carry License last week. I went through my sparsely stocked safe and came up with the choices listed above. Which one makes the most sense?

Typo: The 340J should read, "360J" Sorry for the confusion.

Whichever YOU shoot better between the .38's and the Khar or 3913.

If it were for ME, it would be the Kahr. So that's how I voted.

But, your own preference is far more of an important factor than mine! :)

Good luck, and congrats!

What ever you decide I will suggest that you not jump around from gun to gun and especially not from one manual of arms to another

Have you had the opportunity to use any of those choices in a training class under stressful conditions? Something beyond a basic handgun safety class?

How about in a local IDPA event?

Which of them do you feel confident using in an unexpected situation which you perceive to offer the imminent threat of seriously bodily injury or death?

How about when that situation may involve circumstances of reduced/low light, and/or in a rapidly changing and evolving set of dynamic conditions that are physically, mentally & emotionally stressful?

Now, I don't shill guns or make specific recommendations to folks about handguns intended to be carried in the role of a dedicated defensive weapon. That's up to the individual.

I can offer that of the makes/models you've listed, I "chose" the S&W 340 & the 3913/14 models. Why? Simply because I own and carry a variety of J-frames (including a pair of M&P 340's - not 340PD's - loaded with .38 Spl +P), and I also own and carry a 3913.

Your call, though. ;)

None of them have any value if you can't hit the target rapidly.

Do you have holsters for all of them? Any range test to determine which should be carried should be done from concealment.

I have trouble deciding some days so on occasion I vary what I carry so I voted for the J-frame (a 642 is my primary EDCG), the Colt (sometimes I carry a Cobra, the real lightweight, and it's a six shooter), and the 3913 (sometimes I carry a 6906). I shoot them or I'd never carry them - ya gotta know how they work for you.

For work its my 340pd or 337ti (both have no ILS ) & on the weekends anything from emp9 Kahr mk9 to my 329ng. I shoot them all spread out in 2 range trips each month. That's what works for me but that's just me.
