The p220 is one fine 45....there were a few in 38 Super that are super rare. I had several over the years and would not hesitate to buy/carry one again. $600 is about the going rate for a nice used one around my parts.

Good luck with your new Sig!

And Merry Christmas!

I have a first issue Sig 220 as well as 5 other .45acp guns. It is the first one I purchased, about 25 years ago and it will be the very last that I would sell, if I had to. It is a soft shooter, even with the hot .45acp loads, extremely accurate and it will eat anything you feed it, without a hiccup of any kind! The only maintenance I ever did, other than keeping it super clean, was to change all the springs about 6 or 7 years ago.

Buy it, you will not be disappointed!

I carry the 220 at work. Not a bunch of bling. Just a solid tool that works. DA/SA trigger pull takes a little getting used to. Single stack mag. What's your intended use for it, carry, range?

Is it a German or US made? German will say made in Germany on the side. Generally speaking good guns. After they become US made there were problems with QC for a good 10 years. About the only thing that was better was the US slides were machined while the German were stamped and welded. In the latE 90s - early 00s Sig used German slides and US frames. The weakest part were mags and Sig went through half a dozen versions over the years. Overall pretty good guns but I stick with all German or Swiss manufacturing. I have an W.German made that is heavily used and still runs

I've had a W. German 220 since the mid/late 80s that will shoot clover-leafs at the indoor 50ft range...... 7 or 8 +1 of .45 goodness!!

Be aware the first Sig will lead to more......... though some say the older ones are the better ones........

If you get and like the 220 ...... check out the 245 for concealed carry!!!!!

I have several Sigs, including a couple P220's. They have totally cured me of 1911's. I am not sure if there were any stamped as being made in E. Germany, but my two W. German stamped models (220 and P6) are great guns. Their triggers took some time to get used to, but practice helped. I will concede that a good 1911 has a superior trigger. $600.00 could be a fair price or a great price depending on the model, configuration, and of course condition. They are hard to beat. Good luck.

Thanks all. KLYDE, yes carry and the range use. I saw this pop up at my LGS. Was initially thinking of the 226 in 9mm for my first Sig, but I already have the Beretta 92FS, so that's why I was thinking of the 220 in 45acp.

I like mine! Accurate shooter.

I put some Walnut on it but for whatever reason I prefer the plastic.

There were none stamped E. German that is my auto correct. For some reason it makes W. German in East. Sometimes I don't catch it and hit submit

$600 new? Jump on that.

$600 used? Need more details.

I do prefer the SRT trigger on the newer models!

The SRT can be installed to a W. German made Sig P220. I did it. The only thing I won't install is the E2 grips. I'd have to replace the hammer, hammer strut, etc. I actually like the spurred W. German hammer.

Install a SRT into your 220. For the P6, drop in a SRT and a P225 main spring. Both will then stand up to a 1911 trigger. I've done it.

I detail stripped and refurbed this P6.

I'll partially agree with this. The 1911 and I never got along 100% The P220 feels just right. I then sold/traded the two 1911's I had. It's been about 2 years since I last owned a 1911, and I'm getting the itch to own just one.

I can't answer about SRT triggers but what I noticed is that the older Sigs are smoother. I didn't change a thing in my worn W. German Sig but it shoots tighter groups tHan my Springfield TRP. Not a whole lot of difference but enough to notice

Prices vary, so I'll let others comment on that. What I can say is that I've owned a succession of SIGs since the mid '80s, to include several of the P220 variations. Excellent pistols all! I do favor the Short Reset Trigger/SRT in my traditional DA/SA SIGs. My current P220 is in the less commonly encountered 9MM chambering. It's German, manufactured in '95. It was unfired until I put a few rounds through it a couple weeks ago. It displays the same boring reliability and accuracy SIGs are known for....ymmv

I have a p220, my first .45 Since 01 I put a lot of rounds through it of all types , no problem ever. I sent it back to sig for a tune-up , srt , night sights and to smooth the action. WoW big difference! Sad thing is I only use it to punch paper. 600 is a steal IMHO. By the way I now own 4 sigs , suiss p225, P220, 1911, and lastly a 238 . Seems like all I buy now is new sigs and old S&W revolvers.

YES!!!!! I have/had three of them.........Early West german P220 in .45 acp. (KC---'92)

I was a died in the wool Colt M 1911 man and happened to purchase the few remaining guns of a collection from a widow. In the bunch was a German SIG 220. I took it to the range and was taken back by how quickly I learned to shoot it really well. As said, it lead to other SIGs. I became a SIG armorer and really became a fan of SIG products. I used my 220 in 3 Gun competition for a few years. I have sold Colts, I have sold Kimbers, I have sold Smiths (slap me along side the head), but I have never sold a SIG.

I say, Buy it now! and enjoy. ............. Big Cholla
