Who knows anything about these Model 25`s .45 Colt ,1 of 300? I don't like the needless junk on it , but it might be a good way to get .45 configured this way, for less $.

It's hard to imagine a man named Jack O'Connor not being enthused by a Rocky Mt. ram... :D

Yeah, I know that THAT Jack O'Connor, the famed gun writer and sheep hunter is no longer with us. But the name and the image...I couldn't resist . Sorry.

I have one in my s/n collection, CTA15XX. It's a -13 and the date code is September 24, 2003 and the product code was 160928. It had a stainless cylinder, which is unusual.

They were made for the Sports Authority Group. When they got out of the handgun business they had them cheap. I bought one and sent several of my friends to get one.I think that we paid $412 for them.I have never shot mine.

I bought mine at the Gart Bros.closing here in CO

Never have fired it, but they had maybe a half dozen for sale at the time. Should have bought them all. Can't remember how long ago it was, but it was after Sports Authority bought out Gart Brothers. I have always assumed that these were a special marketing run for Garts. I have to say, I don't much care for the "special" markings, but it's still a fine Model 25, and I own about a dozen of 'em. I'm always tempted to shoot it but haven't done so yet.

Were those the original grips? If so, do you know what S&W called them?

They came with a set of soft rubber Hogues as well as these wooden grips. All I've ever seen stated that they are Ahrends Cocobolo & they're the same as I've seen on 329PDs. I've never seen a model name listed but I just looked at Ahrends website & they do look like these:

S&W Tactical Grips, Square Butt Finger Groove:

- These grips are available for square butt guns. We also make a conversion grip that converts a round butt frame to a square butt grip. Recently S&W has been making the majority of their revolvers with round butts, these conversions allow a square butt grip to fit. Available for round butt or square butt K/L and N frame S&W revolvers.

I've been shooting mine a lot lately & trying some different bullet (MBC 250gr Hi-Tek coated & Xtreme 230gr heavy plated HP) & powder combinations in it too. I don't foresee selling it any time soon so I'm enjoying it while I can. :D
