Explain Your User Name

Mechanical engineer for 35 years and still attempting to shoot Bullseye matches with a 1911.

Retired from engineering in 2008 with a push from Obama, and may be time to quit shooting Bullseye 'cause the scores keep going down. Cloudy vision maybe a factor.

When I first got online, many years ago, on a local Richmond board, I needed a name but couldn't think of anything. I glanced out the back door and saw my Cajun bass boat in the driveway.

And

CajunBass was born. I use it on every board I post on.

The boat is long gone, but the name remains.

To engineer1911: cloudy vision usually can be corrected. It might be cataracts, or it might be an inherited rare but not unheard of condition such as what I had called Fuch's Dystrophy. I was suffering increasingly cloudy vision, had already gone through two cataract surgeries, and corrective lenses couldn't help. I was finally diagnosed with Fuch's and for years was told nothing could be done about it. I worried that my vision was getting bad enough that I might lose my right to drive. But I then found out a new surgery had been developed about 15 years ago (only about 10 years at the time I found out) and now I am free of Fuch's. My aging eyes are still not that great for accurate shooting, but are infinitely better since the surgery (partial corneal transplants). If you haven't already, see an ophthalmologist, and you might want to ask him/her specifically to screen you for Fuch's Dystrophy.

Glad to hear your surgery has helped you. I get my first transplant in two days. If all goes well the other eye soon.

"Taste the (insert Italian Food here)"

"Torch the S---hole"

"______ the Service here"

Is it a quote from "The Godfather"?
Oh Lordy! Creative as heck... :p ... but still wrong! :D

Remember the hint Bam! It was what the elderly nutcase waitress lady kept pounding into us over and over again... before, during and after the meal. :)

And no, it is not a quote from "The Godfather." :p

Older engineers (especially Mechanical Engineers) don't have much longevity anymore in the glorious Age of Obama. Every one that I know personally is either laid-off or "early retired" or seriously hurting for paying work, including yours truly. :o

So don't feel so bad. :o You are not alone. :(

I spent 22 years in police work and was always reminding others to wear their body armor. After retiring I took a job in the body armor industry as a manufacturers sales rep.
