I have a like-hate relationship with the corporation. This time, they scored a home run with me--actually--three of the last four visits.

About ten or so dauys ago-at the WM on Greenwood. My eyes bulged like nancy's do when I saw on their top shelf--a few thousand one hundred rd packs of CCI minimags--for about five-fifty each. I bought my three limit as it was the first time ive seen these at WM--AND in the afternoon--in about two years.

A couple days ago--at the WM on Staples and Gollihar--I saw they had dozens of fifty rd boxes of: CCI stingers. These were about six bucks a box-so I got three.Id like to know what is so special about Stingers? I know they are high qulity but--fifty for six bucks?? I bought these mainly because I have ot seen any of these available anywhere--for over two years. The other reason is--trade material.

The other scores included dvd --for those who collect them.

I like the series on AMC called: Turn: Washingtons Spies.Well, these were SUPPOSED to only be available on MoD DvD through AMC--well,guess WM made somekind of deal with them? They also sell: Black Sails. WM is the cheapest place to get them at this current time.

For you Westerns fans--just spotted an movie set--of Universal Studios--Westerns. Theya re all studio quality and not that MillCreek and worse--junk. This pack for five bucks. You get:

Canyon Passage w/Dana Andrews and Susan Hayward.
The Man From the Alamo w/Glen Ford.
War Arrow w/Jeff Chandler.
The Lawless Breed w/Rock Hudson as John Wesley Hardin.
The Redhead From Wyoming w/Maureen O'Hara and Alex Nicol.
Seminole w/Rock Hudson,Anthony Quinn as Chief Oscelo and I THINK--Lee Marvin as a Sergeant.
Gun For A Coward w/Fred Macmurray,Jeffrey Hunter and Dean Stockwell.
Quatez w/Fred Macmurray.

Anyway, just thought id pass along some good stuff before I leave.

Almost forgot:They also and finally have the second season fro:WKRP in Cincinatti. The first season was released over six years ago.

Also for you: The Avengers fans: They have a box set of all the Emma Peel episodes. I think these are the first three seasons of the show.

Stinger's are CCI's hyper velocity .22s...1640fps..... trying to remember but IIRC the case is a bit longer and the bullet is a bit shorter and 32gr.....or is it the other way around...LOL

Stinger's are not known for their "target" accuracy....... but varmints beware!!

IMO the Velocitor is a better hunting round....... 1435 fps and 134ft-lbs of energy at 50yds vs. 120 for the Stinger.

Stingers do have a longer casing than a 22LR. They are not usable in Ruger 10/22 rifles with match barrels or in Single Six revolvers per Ruger's manuals and their cust svc. I use them in my standard 10/22. It was suggested I not use them in the sig 1911-22 or SW .22 compact, just because they tend to beat up the parts more than a standard or high velocity.

I've never had one (stinger) fail to fire, so perhaps a little extra value there.

I'll bet you got the minimags at that price because they loaded them as stingers in the inventory. The should cost about $7.50/100. I got a brick once for the single pack price because they loaded them incorrectly.

I thought that was a good deal also, last summer my wife found 3 box's of cci mm in the closet that I bought at WM maybe three or four years ago, I'm sure the price was 7.95/100.

Everything sounds good except WKRP. Ed Asner and that other jerk, Hessman? Ruined that show for me.

Our local wally world's ammo shelves looked like they had been picked over by a bunch of hungry gorilla's. For at least the last six months they have had zip on their shelves. Only thing they had was a few boxes of winchester white box ammo. Then about two weeks ago I went in to get something to read and check out the ammo. What do I find?, two boxes of win 230 grain hollow points so needless to say bought them. Don't know what it is with this store. For months very little stock and then they have a glut compared to what they normally have. Guess they figure that they don't need that much ammo. Frank

Ill most likely use these as trade material. Imlooking at trying to get another brick at next weeks gun show.

How will these be good enough to fire in one of those Heritage Arms SAA "Rough Rider" twenty twos? Also, I know those STG fourty four knockoffs are a bit tempermental, so I wonder if I should even try using them with it?

Ive always wanted one of those Ruger:: ten/twenty twos. Mainly so I can get an MG-fourty two kit to put on one..

The Academy here has only been getting in various kinds of Match grade ammo--for fifty rounds for ten bucks. Ive been passing on all of them. They havent been getting any of the cheap stuff in for about two months now.

Thankfully, the stores around here like WM and Academy both--have been staying consistant with prices.I tried going into Dicks again--those folks are all over the price range. I've given upon spending money there.

I dont think Ed Asner was ever on WKRP?I think you might be thinking about Gordon Jump?? Hessman--I cant recall his name but know who your talking about. After WKRP--Jump started doing those Maytag commerials after Jesse White had passed away.

Loni Anderson made that series for me.:D

Thats pretty much the same exact story here for all the Wal Marts. Everytime I go into one--I head for the ammo counter fully expecting to see nothing.I got very surprised those two times.Lately again--having been there again just yesterday--nothing but shotgun shell sand other stuff I dont need.

CCI lists "Stingers" as a varmint round ; the '''Velocitor" as a small game round.....

I have a small stash of each .... and generally limit their use to my CZ FS/Scout/Trainer "Walk in Penn's Woods" guns......

My feeling is you are "wasting" the potential of these rounds in a handgun length barrel..........but if needed would not hesitate to use them in my Smith Model 17s or 18s "if needed"

Thats what I kind of figured on them--being better suited for rifles. I think ill just use them for trade material. I know a couple guys who will give mea good deal on them.

Johnny Fever??

Johnny Fever? I never watched it too much.

I'm glad .22 at a reasonable price isn't as scarce as hen's teeth anymore. Now if the same would be true of other components.

The most local one to me was always terrible, no ammo, never a clerk around. So I went online and sent a detailed complaint about that stores dept. Within a month it improved quite a bit.

After I bought those three boxes of stingers. I met three guys who had just moved here from Montana or somewhere? They told me they never found a shortage of twenty twos of any kind and were surprised to hear of the shortages elsewhere.

Dr.Johnny Fever he be.I also liked Venus Flytrap.

Must have been one heck of a nicely-composed letter too. Are you available for sending such a compaint about all the WalMarts here in Corpus? :D

Our local Wal-Mart gets Their supplies in on Friday and is sold out in about two hours.
At least some ammo is going down in price though,I saw that the Winchester 44 Magnum was only $39.00 for 50 rounds,It was $40.00 a week ago.

When I got my first firearm, a Ruger Mark I Target Model, in the '70'sI soon discovered that the CCI Mini Mags were as good as some standard velocity, EXPENSIVE target grade 22 LR. I used to buy it at K Mart, 1000 rounds at a time. I'm glad to hear that WalMart finally has it again.
