I have purchased three S&W Shields, all 9mm's with the thumb safety. I think you will be happy with it. Spare magazines seem to be everywhere or nowhere. Buy a few spares if they are available when your pistol arrives.

Will do thanks. Got to look for a hostler first and not sure I want. I could loose some weight I guess and get a IWB but the older I get the rounder I get. I just don't want to replace all my camo shorts and that is about all I wear anymore. NE Florida formal attire. Don

My favorite holster is the DeSantis 118 X7.

DeSantis 019 X7, my second favorite holster for the Shield.

My least favorite was the DeSantis 028 X7 IWB. I gave this one to my son, as he sometimes carries the Shield I gave his wife.

I don't have the money but will just eat beans and cornbread for the next month or two. Don

I'm more the peanut butter & jelly type, and you can eat PB&J's twice a day for a month for about $20 and on the plus side, by doing so you will probably lose a few pounds in the process making that IWB holster fit/feel even better! :D

If you look at my thread http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p-pistols/429168-my-shield.htmlI was talking about how much I dig my Shield 9 that halfway thru the posts I went out & bought a Shield 40, which I absolutely adore & it's now my EDC.

I like the 118 X7 it looks like what I need.

I am also a PBJ man and really could never eat much of the beans and corn bread but when the I was young the wife made them way to often when we over spent for something we wanted.

My friend's shot awsum. The trigger was heavy from what am use to with my other M&Ps but I shoot my GP-100 DA so I will get use to it. With no manual safety the trigger will be just fine.

Congrats on the new Shield .40. My TS model has been my EDC for the last 16 months, and couldn't be happier. Have fun and be safe.

My LGSR has these going on sale for Memorial Day! I have made up my mind to get another S&W auto loader, (Shield 9 NTS).

Price is: $399. With purchase I receive, Free 1 yr. membership. ($200 value) My present membership to the range expires the end of this month and I was considering a renewal any way. Like getting the gun for: $199.

I love PBJ and beans!

Camo is an excellent all-around attire, if you get dress shorts with cargo pockets, a "sticky MD2" works quite nicely, (I like mine) but I have 7 different styles of holsters so mornings are a little slo goin' for me:D

Mine's with a safety, I've got maybe 600rnds thru' it and it's loosened up nicely.

the trigger break was nice, reset nice, but the 7.5# pull got to me after awhile.

I could always feel the contact of the trigger mech pushing up the striker safety button.

I pulled the button & rounded off the sharp edge, now have a 5.5# trigger, nice reset:)

That's as low as I want to go for EDC - even with a manual safety

Enjoy it, as it breaks in it gets noticeably better

My EDC is a Shield 40 w/safety on in a Alien Gear cloak tuck 2.0 IWB holster. With cargo shorts, tee shirt and a short sleeve button up shirt I can easily & comfortably keep it well concealed. Just this morning my own wife didnt know I had it back there, she thought I had my BG380 in my front pocket which turned out to be my cell phone.

Priceless smile when she said "oh ****, you're packin a 40 today". :D

I already have a 9mm shield I use for EDC. Will be sending it out soon for new sights, Apex trigger upgrade and some color on the slide. Figured I better buy a backup 9mm shield while that is being done so ordered that today.

While I was at it I put an 40 Shield on layaway as I already have a FS 40 M&P so there is ammo just sitting around. :p

Once both 9mm are upgraded I'll pay off the 40 then send that out! :D

I got mine Friday, cleaned it up and waiting for Tuesday to take it to the range. Been carrying it and been carrying it around the house this weekend. Being my first carry gun I am just trying to get use to doing it. Not sure I like this Soft Tuck holster. Trying to wear it @ 4 o'clock any farther behind me and my bad shoulder doesn't want to let me reach that far behind me. Also if I tighten my belt enough to keep my pants up it is nearly impossible to get the gun back in it. Don

Wish I had money to buy guns at the drop of a hat, then go post it on a forum.
A mere $10/Week can get you $400 in just 9 Months.
$20/Week would take less than 5 Months.

I would imagine almost everyone here wastes more than $10/Week on something they could do without. ;)

Congrats on the new Shield, Magload! :)

Congratulations, I hope you love yours as much as I love mine. For super comfortable carry, it is hard to beat a pancake style holster. I got a Lobo Gunleather enhanced pancake for mine and am pleased with the decision. It conceals great under a button down shirt tailored to be worn un-tucked, and a "tropical" print that nobody blinks an eye at in Florida helps hide any printing from the gun.

Now if I could just figure out how to wear suspenders with this thing to keep my pants from falling off. The older I get the less butt I have to keep a belt up and a oversize belly helping to push it all down. Been spending far to much time pulling up my pants since I hung the gun on my belt. Just wait till I go to a IDPA match with my 1911 hanging on my belt. Now many points will I loose with my pants falling off running a stage? Don

Congrats, Magload. I did the same thing last week. Picked up a 40 on Thursday. The first thing I did was to field strip it, just to make sure I could. Got it back together and danged if I could get the slide to lock open.
Tried until my hands hurt. I was afraid I'd damaged something or that the RSA was cocked. Got it back apart, all looked fine. Took it to my gun shop Sat. morning to let them have a quick look. All was OK. That slide is just a bear to get locked. Man, I thought my other gun was stiff when it was new! Anyway, I now know that it takes some muscle to lock it. It's better now after firing only about 50 rounds through it over the weekend. I like the gun a lot. I just need to get used to the sight picture. Actually, I'm not sure what it is yet. I'm still getting used to the flip and the trigger. Seems like it wants the front sight to be On Target.
I don't have a holster for it, but I'm considering a Sneaky Pete. Not the fastest thing to draw from, but it just looks like a cell phone case. Concealed in plain sight. I'll probably end up like a lot of other guys and have a selection.

A lot cheaper then the Sneaky Pete is the Bulldog holster you can get it with the gun vertical like the SP of upside down horizontal. it's around $13 my friend which just got a new Shield 40 likes this Bulldog. I wanted a faster draw but am not liking this Soft Tuck IWB. I can draw fine putting it back in is tough. If I am not careful it racks the slide. I am sure the belt is squeezing the leather holster to much but a man has got to keep his pants up. The site picture you need is the combat sight picture with the front sight dot as POA. I been shooting my Laser Target today and that seams the best. Don
