Where these guns really shine is 25 yards and beyond usually best with standard velocity ammo if you can find some

I've looked at this thread a couple times today. I keep thinking I'll come up with the right food or drink comparison to say just how much I like that 617. But, the words just fail me.

Suffice it to say that 617 is one really fine revolver, and I sure wish I had one too!

Congrats!

Great gun! Mine looks almost like it, except I put Ahrends Combat Retros on it. It's a much better shooter than me.

P.S. Nice plinking by the way!

I've had a couple of .22's that could be compared to Durian fruit. The 617 is a fine revolver that is worth the extra money you have to shell out. If I bought my 617 earlier, I would have saved myself some grief.

OP, nice gun, and nice pictures. Enjoy it. Ed

I missed 3 m617s today. One dealer had both a 4" & 6" in stock. By the time I got there, they were both gone.

Another dealer about 5 miles away had a 6" listed on their online inventory. Got there and asked to see it and they could not find it. They said it must have been sold a few hours earlier and the inventory had not yet been updated. Hard model to find on a frequent basis.

I've found it's much more of a "find a lot number of ammo it likes and buy as much as you can lay hands on" kind of thing. Have had some "pre panic" Federal Value Pack and Remington Golden Bullet lots that are outstanding to 100 yards. But other lots of the same were mediocre to blah.

Used some vintage 2008 "Golden Bullet" to shoot an IHMSA match last weekend. Took the last four rams at 100yards, much to my surprise! Standing, even. (using a no dash 617 to boot!) :D And that isn't my favorite lot of ammo, but there's about 5300 rounds left...

Best thing is that it's fun (usually) finding out what your revolver will like for accuracy. And the rejects can be burned up without guilt on less demanding targets.

Great looking revolver! I found my 617 yesterday on Armslist locally after waiting for 6 months. I'm itching to go to the range! Congrats on yours
