Do you have guns at home?

This isn't new -- been going on for at least a decade. I think it was pretty widespread went it first surfaced, but the questionaire was so long --Do you own a motorcycle, lawn darts, a ladder? -- most people left them blank and the CDC or whoever gave up.

That is hilarious...lawn darts!!!!! I know one thing...I am super, super glad I am not the idiot that invented lawn darts!!! I haven't seen one in thirty five years yet the whole concept is so outrageously ridiculous that they still come up in the most obscure of conversations.
Now I ask you, how would you like to be the moron that was the original inventor of lawn darts and 35 years after the last one has been sold and thrown in the garbage they come up in a conversation about doctors and guns????

They were called Jarts and every family had a set when I grew up. They were great fun and even when the adults were tying one on, with us youngins playing, no one ever got hurt. I would have loved to be that guy that invented them!

I still have my lawn darts, thank you very much!

(how do you think the grandkids got so good a dodgeball?)

When my cancer came back in 2013, I was checking into a hospital near here for a big scan, and the nurse asked me if I was depressed .. I told her that I'd had better weeks than than this when my cancer had returned after being in remission for 13 years....... she closed up the forms and walked away.

due to reading horror stories here & on CSP's Jouster's boards of guys being asked if they owned firearms at various doctor's offices, clinics, VA etc in several states and going home to find the police there removing all of the family firearms and reloading components... there was no way that I'd admit to being depressed or owning firearms... All of our family docs & their staff shoot & most are active hunters too. CCW is permitted at our hospitals, clinics.

The next beach from mine they still have a set and they do get used on occasion. We are good friends and I have thrown my share of them.:)

I live in Texas, all the doctors just leave the default selection checked.

Some doctors ask, some don't. It's a myth that it goes into some gigantic database and I wish the NRA would stop perpetuating.

My doctor asked once about 10 years ago. I told him yes. He asked if they were loaded. I told him that they were no good to me unloaded.

He hasn't mentioned it since. We mostly talk about bicycles since we both enjoy riding. In fact, he's the one that got me into riding in the first place as a less wear and tear alternative to running.

He's never asked if I carry when I'm biking. ;)

When presented with that question - and it won't always be a doctor - I say what others recommend: not relevant to my visit. I get pushback from younger doctors, but all I have to say is that I'm not answering that question (as well as a number of others) and if that is not satisfactory I will leave. We have a new family doc of the "new school," and she has much need to be eddykated. She no longer tries to ask the questions, especially after I pointed out how her network (ProHealthCare) managed to mix up my records with another vet, and that their entire database has been hacked.

If this continues, I would consider contacting the NRA about a law suit. Not sure what the premise would be, but I'd sure look for one.

Anything other than no will probably have the Dr. put yes. I would just say no.

^^^ This!
This question by doctors has been around for a few years now. I think it started when the CDC was blocked from "Analyzing" gun deaths or some kind of BS. In Florida the legislature even passed a law to prohibit doctors from asking.

One of the theories is that since the Feds are prohibited from creating a registry of gun or gun owners, it's nobamas back door to ID gun owners through the mandatory electronic medical records act since it started shortly after he took office. True or false, take your pick.
