I have a replica 1842 Springfield musket, Rifled, in .69cal. It shoots a 720 gr Minnie ball and out of a 10 lb musket IT hurts.

Lord have mercy shooting that hand gun

YOWZA, I recently shot the same gun with 300 grain Hornady FTX bullets. That was more than enough for me. Can't imagine 700 grain bullets.

I can see lots of fire from the barrel/cylinder gap. I'm curious what the gap measures.

I had a 4" 500 with 500gr Hardcast Lead.It actually was not that bad,I will take it over an Airweight .357 any Day.

Think about this:
The 577 Nitro Express loaded 100 grains of cordite under a 750 grain bullet achieving around 2000 fps and 7000 ft-lbs.
The doubles weighed around 15 pounds and recoil is described as "vicious".
I realize you are not making 2kfps but those big pills do mount up the momentum magnificently.
Shooting full 44 magnums out of the 2.5 lb. mountain revolver is about my limit.
3000 ft-lbs in the 7.5 lb 444 Marlin is also my limit in a rifle.
I know I could shoot maybe one or 2 rounds of heavier loads but what fun is shooting just one?
My main pursuit is reloading and I like to make as many empties as possible :)
