K-38 serial number

Could someone please tell me the manufacturing date for S&W Model 14-4 (K-38) Serial # 94K03XX. Thank you.

That would be a 1981 manufacture dated gun.

What year was K-38 S&W made?

I'm looking at a S&W Model 14. It has a 6" barrel with partridge target sights. It appears to be in good condition except for holster wear at the end of the barrel. It has a wide target trigger and wide hammer spur. The serial is 27K66XX. Can anyone tell me when it was manufactured? Thanks

I'd say 1978 on that one.

Actually, all the 27K serial numbers were issued in 1979. The general groupings near the end of the K serial numbers on page 398 of the 3d Edition are not always accurate.
