BROWNING BLR-92 in .357 MAGNUM

Greetings all,

Do any of my fellow forum friends have some insight into the Browning BLR-92s, especially in .357 Magnum?

Aside from my stage 5, severely advanced case of N-Frame-Itis, I suffer from Lever-Itis as well. I am mostly a Marlin addict (JM stamping only) but there is something special to my eye and heart about the Browning BLR-92s. Also special to me are the BLR-22s with their extremely short throw lever.

Of course, the BLR-92s are Winchester 92s under their true namesake, but the Browning bluing, wood, and workmanship really shine! Any of my fellow forum members have some thoughts on those particular guns and any info about them? I have read that the .44 and .357 Magnum BLRs were discontinued in 1987, but am not sure if that is correct.

I have one of each, 357 and 44. The 44 isn't terribly accurate, the sights are poor, and my Rossi 44 will shoot rings around it. But it's so beautiful that I can't get rid of it. On The 357 the Browning poly finish is pretty beat up and I need to redo it. A previous owner added a front sit with a big brass bead, I suppose it would be good for short range cowboy shooting, but I need to fix that too. I had another 357, a gorgeous one that had been refinished and slicked up, that one shot pretty well, but I gave it to my new daughter in law.

The actual model of these is the B92, and they are getting expensive.

Thanks for your reply. What would you guess an absolutely PRISTINE B92 in .357 would be worth, no box, just the gun?

Mine in .357 is one of my favorite guns of any type. The trigger was heavy, so I had that worked on and an aperture sight installed. The finish was pretty shiny, so I rubbed it with extra fine steel wool, which knocked it down enough for me.

Some of them, mine included, are picky about overall cartridge length, and won't feed .38's from the magazine very well. The cowboy action shooters have a fix, but I just load .38 Special velocity loads in .357 cases, as I don't want to take a chance on messing up it's wonderfully smooth action and feeding.

No idea what they're worth. Again, great gun.

I couldn't find a Browning 92 when I was lookign, so I have a EMF model 1892 saddle ring carbine (made by Rossi) in .357. Mine handles all kinds of .38 Special and .357 Magnum rounds with no issues and shoots good, two whitetails and several coyotes taken with it.

I really like the case coloring. A dear friend of mine has a Rossi 92 in .357 that shoots great!

I'm holding back guys. A few weeks ago, I picked up a BLR - 92 in .357 Magnum. It's so sweet, it eclipses my favorite wheel guns.

Well, where is that picture??? I wondered that from the first post on.

Are the Browning lever actions also made by Miroku like many of theeir shotguns and all kind of Winchesters?

Yes they were.

The B92 has not been made for many many years. They were the first Browning "let's bring back the classic Winchester levers" made by Miroku. They also made the Model 53, which is a really high-class 92, with a button magazine, in 32/20, they made the 1886, in both rifle and carbine, in 45/70, and they made the 1895. I don't know how many calibers that came in - mine's a 30/40.

I picked up one early this year. Overall condition is good, some dings in the wood, and the Poly finish could use some refinishing. I ordered a Skinner aperture sight for it just yesterday. I paid 750 for it, and with my research beforehand, I figure I got a bargain. FUN to shoot. It likes RNFP bullets best, but with energetic use of the lever, it feeds SWC's pretty well too.
