I liked Rawhide, Bonanza and Gunsmoke. Still do. Routinely watch Gunsmoke at night. Have not been able to find Rawhide in a long time. Bonanza is commonly on as is The Rifleman on Saturday mornings. Wonderful programs. Wonderful memories. For the most part these programs reflected values/mores that were positive. Sincerely. bruce.

Tombstone Territory and, Have Gun, Will Travel.

But I watched all of those shows and enjoyed most.

Wasn't heavily into, Bonanza or, Tenderfoot and a few others.

Cimmaron (sp?) was pretty good, as I recall, but I can't remember the music, nor that from, Lawman. I liked, Yancy Derringer. Guy had a four-barrel Sharp's derringer...

In movies, How the West Was Won had a good song.

I used to like the jungle adventure shows, too, like, Ramar of the Jungle, and Jungle Jim. Add, Lives of the Bengal Lancers. May have been, The 77th Bengal Lancers. That had a lot to do with my lust to own a Webley revolver, which I got at age 13. My first real handgun!

"The 77th Bengal Lancers" opening scenes and theme song. Note that the Sikh bugler carries a Ghurka khukri knife.

Phil Carey in this series later played Phillip Marlowe, private eye. Remember those two Colt .38's in the tray under the dash of his car? Who can name the models of them? (Yes, I know.)

"The Tall Man," with Barry Sullivan as Pat Garrett and Clu Gulager as Billy the Kid. It was not much of a theme, just some cool electric guitar chords, but I always liked listening to it as an 11 y.o.

"The Texan", with Rory Calhoun. Not much on lengthy opening music, but one of the best TV westerns.

I always felt that Calhoun should have played Matt Helm in the movies, not Dean Martin.

Yeah, I liked that. Actually, I met Clu Gulager and talked for an hour or so in a Dallas live theater where his wife was performing and my mother had some function. Forgot just what, but Mother also ran a county-wide poetry festival/contest for high school students. She taught honors English at a high school, and was active in the Texas Poetry Society.

Gulager was very cordial, easy to talk to, bored while we waited outside the theater for the play to end. Neither of us wanted to watch, and I can't even recall now which play it was. Nice theater, though.

Rawhide comes to mind.... The worst is when I hear Dale Evens sing Happy Trails. It's kinda like something sharp being stuck in my ear :o.. Now that I thought of that the tune is gonna be stuck in my head all day...

...Dale Evans as you've never seen her before...her pre-Leonard Slye (Roy Rogers) days...

I also enjoyed jungle adventure shows. Irish McCalla from Sheeba Queen of the Jungle had a lot to do with my lust for blonde independent women!

Oh, I also liked the theme from Bonanza.

Arthur Fieldler and the Boston Pops did an album many years ago of western songs called Pops Roundup. It opens with a medley of tv theme songs including Bonanza, Maverick, The Rebel, Have Gun, Will Travel, Wyatt Earp, Rawhide, etc. I played the cd for years and now have it on my iPhone. Six and one half minutes of pure pleasure. Listening to it now.

Many of these TV shows, I've never seen or never saw more than a few episodes of. I'm going to have to collect them as released. I want more Cheyenne and I want the one with the four Texas Rangers in it, the name escapes me but, it had Neville Brand and Phil Carey in it.
