Summer's over. :(

Just thought you'd like to know.

P.S.
You guys on the Left Coast have a few more hours.
Enjoy it.

Where the heck did the summer go?!

Where the heck did the summer go?!

Considering the rain and wind we had this past weekend here on the Upper Left Coast I'd say summer was over on Thursday. Spent Sunday picking up blown down tree limbs. Heard a big "crack" Saturday evening and now there's a big branch partly hanging over our back fence from a tree that's on school district property. I'll have to notify them about it when I go in to work Wednesday for the first day of school.

Yep. Dusky (blue) grouse season opens today here in CO. Now, I can carry my trusty c. 1965 Marlin 39A on my weekend elk scouting hikes just in case one of the pesky things jumps up from under my feet and scares the bejesus outa me.

PS: bunnies don't open til Oct.1, but its the only pic of the Marlin I have

Already cooler weather here. Seems summer did go by fast but I do like fall too. My brother has a new German Short Hair so plan on some ruffed grouse hunting this year which opens Sept 15. Then deer bow the 1st of Oct. I haven't hunted much the past couple years due to back surgeries so am looking forward to it this year. Not sure how much walking I'll be able to manage bird hunting but can always go back to the truck early if need be. We usually hunt deer from stands so okay there and will have help dragging deer too.
It's winter that I dread and may be the reason I may move to a warmer state one day.

It's the opening day of Dove season here in the Great State of Texas. Unfortunately, it's my son's senior year in high school, so I can't let him play hooky today. We are set up to dove hunt for this weekend and Labor Day, and our scouting trip last Sunday showed there were a bunch of doves on the lease.

Because of the Spring rain, they are expecting a bumper crop of doves here in Texas, and they have even expanded the hunting season by a few days as a result. Man, I cannot wait to put some fresh dove breasts on the grill.

Regards,

Dave

My leaves are already droppin'. I'll need to breakout the lawn vac next time I mow.

Besides the leaves, this is my favorite time of year. Cool nights, great HS and college sports, good smallie fishin' and the boys go back to college (so I can keep my fridge filled more than 6 hours and not be woken up in the middle of the night).

Yard work all summer. Fall is time to get everything prepared for winter so i don't have to do it when it turns real cold. Don't know how I got everything done when I worked. Snows coming to soon and when it gets here and I'm snowed in it's couch time old movies and listening to my arteries harden :D

I can't wait until the day after Labor Day, the tourist's will be gone and our town will turn into a ghost town, some of the restaurant's will close and some will stay open on the weekend's for a while, the Fall Striper fishing will pick up, the best time of the year.
