Ya'll need to see the new True Grit movie with Jeff Bridges as Rooster. They pretty much respected the original move and really paid respect to "THE DUKE".

Get an HDMI cable.....

Western Mania - Watch Westerns online free! Streaming full length old western movies

Here's some, there are many more sites out there where you can watch for free.

If your TV is modern enough to have an HDMI jack, anything you can watch on your computer you can watch on TV with an HDMI cable. Some things you can pay for. A LOT of it is plain free. Just don't get hooked up with any 'subscription' type stuff.

Like above, I think "The Guns of Will Sonnet" was a GREAT show and Branded was pretty cool, too.

I like the early 'Kung Fu' series. Shaolin Priest in a western setting. Of course it wore out as they ran out of good stories.

I can always watch a Spaghetti Western or "Josey Wales' even though the later Clints are past 1970. I don't think Clints stopped being great after 1970. "Unforgiven" is a phenomenal western. More realistic than most. Downright grimy.

"Man Called Horse" and "Jeremiah Johnson" come to mind. "Little Big Man" is always entertaining because he gets into so many situations.

"Shane", "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" is a 'modern' western.

john Waynes are ageless too. "The Shootist" was his last movie and he really went out with a bang for a long career. "Hondo" is one of my favorite Louie L'amore's.

"Hombre" makes me furious every time I watch it. I wish Newman would have shot right through that old lady's head.

For a newer one, "Tombstone" wasn't bad.

Somebody mentioned the old "Marshall Dillon's" before 'Gunsmoke' that I liked and the first 10 years or so "Gunsmoke" was great. When they started getting 'heart throbs' for story interest I slowed down on it.

I didn't get into 'Big Valley' when it was first one, but the last coupla years I've watched it some and it was pretty good.

For some reason, I just don't enjoy 'Bonanza' like I used to. Of course the early years were great and they had a plethora of guest stars, often very attractive women that didn't hurt to watch.

Watch channels like MeTV and you'll see LOTs of old westerns. I like "The Rifleman" even though I've seen them all about 20 times each.

"Wanted Dead or Alive" and the "Tombstone Territories" have been mentioned here, too.

Another 'modern' western is the "Longmire" series. My wife and I are into watching it together.

If you want to see the original "Magnificent Seven" watch Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai"

Knock, knock. Am I allowed to wake everybody up? Just saw a teaser trailer for a 2016 HBO series "Westworld." Only about 30 seconds, so hard to judge. This one I have to catch: I passed up those 2 recent mini-series, is it "Deadwood?" and the one about the railroad.

P.S. "Once Upon A Time In The West" and "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly" are both shown in heaven. Rumor has it Lucifer likes them, too.

Always liked the Guns of Will Sonnet series.

I almost ordered that last month. I didn't only because of getting seasons 2&3 of: Have Gun Will Travel. I stopped buying DVDs for now,so as to help the lady out with some med bills.

Hey Kid-don't know if you have seen "Sheep Man" (I think) with Glen Ford, but the bar fight with Mickey Shawnessee (sp) is worth the whole thing.

I have and its a good one. Its on made on demand DVD, but is about $20. I want it along with two other Ford westerns not yet in the collection. I'm a Mick Shaunessey fan. Last I saw him in was: Don't Go Near the Water--also with Glen Ford.

I have a hankerin' to see "Waterhole #3" again. It has one of my favorite gunfight scenes, the one where Lewton Cole (James Coburn) is challenged to a gunfight, so he shoots the gunfighter from long range, from behind his (the gunfighter's) horse, with a rifle. Not a great movie, but entertaining enough. The soundtrack is awesome, though, it's Roger Miller and Dave Grusin.

Also, "The Scalphunters" (Telly Savalas makes a great bad guy!) and "The Good Guys and the Bad Guys" (the gunfight scene in the tunnel alone is worth watching this one) are westerns I'd like to re-watch fairly soon.

I recently picked but forgot I had, the man with no name trilogy. I think I'll start with those tonight. Clint Eastwood is good. I think at least one of those is on DVD? Soon as I have time, I'll be checking that out.

Winchester'73

The aforementioned Once Upon A Time in the West
The Searchers
Hondo
The Shootist
The Westerner

You can plug your computer in a big screen TV & watch full length movies for free. You tube is one.

I would but, I don't have internet. I've watched stuff on my tablet but, sound doesn't work so well.

I'm watching Rawhide now on "6 gun Saturday" on ME-TV now. They show old westerns all afternoon on Saturday and 12 pm to 3 pm weekdays. Same ones we watched as kids. Read forum during commercials. Wanted Dead or Alive just came on now. See ya'll later.:) I even know how Paladin became the paladin on "Have Gun Will Travel. Think it was the pilot show. Save the computer for commericals. My second grade teacher even looked like Richard Boone and wore black skirt & belt with a knight on the buckle most days. I'll never forget her, MS. Starr.

This reminds me of something about HGWT. Its not the pilot ep., that gives you insight on his beginnings but, a season 6 episode does. All I've seen about his beginning, was in season 3 , where you learn he was a Union cavalry lieutenant.

A guy really can't go wrong with "Once Upon A Time In The West"....

Thanks. I'll be starting with Clints, pasta westerns man w/ no name trilogy when I get back home. Good choice for something to fill in, a bit after this week.

Watched a different kind of western last week on Netflix - "The Dark Valley".
Basically a German western shot in the Alps. Not too bad if you can do subtitles.

I hope its not like Easterns? Though the Czechs do a good job but???? The costumes look good but??

Grit Television has westerns,I watch Zane Grey Theater and Laramie while having Coffee in the Morning.

I wish we had Grit here but, the closest I know of is at least 150 miles down the road in San Antonio.

I can 'do' the original but, that's one I can't do, being such a Duke fan. Not saying Bridges isn't good but, its like watching a remake of Stagecoach.

I've got many listed above. Just recently finished: Tombstone Territory. I liked every episode of the series and was surprised it only ran from, 57 to 60. Its been a couple years since I've seen Wanted, Steve McQueen was excellent.

Hondo is one of my top favorites, think I'll dig it out too. I can't do Bonanza anymore. Its run into the ground. Been over 30 years since I saw Big Valley,Cimmeron Strip etc. II've been collecting, The Rifleman--the official release. So far only the first 1&1/2 seasons have been released.

Tombstone 1993 best fire arm western ever
Not just firearms, best western, period.

Of my three favorite westerns:
  1. Tombstone
  2. Big Jake
  3. Eldorado
it's my favorite. It reminds me of a really well written yakuza (Japanese gangster) movie. The script is so tightly written that you could bounce a quarter off it.
