I would have simply took it down and took my chances. But, you would never find anything like that around here. Wouldn't surprise me to find out the ladies in the county Treasury here have more guns than I do.

This is so obviously not any sort of official signage. It reminds me of those junk signs ("Earn $500 an hour working at home!) we see taped up on ATMs, grocery store bulletin boards, and other public places. They're a meaningless irritant in our everyday lives. Background noise.
You should've just taken it down. I would have. Not even worth making a big deal out of it. No one would have even noticed it wasn't there any more.

Call me naive, but I'm not buying that, not in any state. IF it was indeed posted by the window where the OP went to pay taxes - never mind the question who "goes to pay taxes"?- it may have been stuck up there by some nut and nobody'd yet noticed it. I'd have asked the person in charge about it.
Somehow this doesn't pass the smell test. I suspect a forwarded email.

Come on, guys. Can't you just laugh at stupid? I mean, it starts out with there are hundreds of shootings because of one weapon - the gun. Well, Duh. What else are criminal nutsos going to shoot with, a hammer?
Don't be overbearing on this, we were all young once and did stupid things, and some folks never grow up. Usually those are not much of a problem (unless they get elected to office), you can distract them from accomplishing anything by suggesting we all join hands and sing Koobaya.

"Shootings" are often NOT crimes at all. Police and law-biding citizens shoot to PREVENT crimes.
"Crimes" are not caused by guns and certainly do not always even involve a gun.
"School Shootings" I don't have data on whether there are more or less than each previous year. I would bet they haven't grown each and every year. Besides, you would probably be more correct to blame bullying, mental illness, or some combination of the two.

The more I look at that "photo" and how carefully it has been sanitized of any hint as to its origin and location, and the bad grammar throughout, the more I'm thinking troll.
Obviously it's been working. People just love unloading righteous indignation.
Had to reread that sentence twice. Sounds like the writer wants everyone in a constant state of fear.
