EZ moon clips - anyone?

I recommend metal moon clips... no issues with my converted 642-1 in 9mm.

I do recommend the BMT loader. Costs a little bit and only works for one type of moon clip, but loads/unloads without effort.

+1 on ranch products.

I still dont have a loader. Whats wrong with me. I load them on a wooden board at work. Never bent a clip, ever. Im amazed that its "necessary " for a loader. You dont need a loader for a 627. It'll even work without clips!

You don't need a loader. If you have to cut 3 acres of grass you don't need a riding mower either. But a loader makes it easier just like a riding mower would.

No they don't, and you are about to to learn more about moon clips than you ever wanted to know.

What do you intend to use your 627 for?

I googled moon clip and got quite an education!
I've started shooting IDPA, but 6 round revolvers rule there. At most I'll use it for a bowling pin match or 2. Unfortunately club rules are no moon clips, only speed loaders. Mostly I'll be slaying steel plates and it makes one hell of a truck gun! Eight rounds of 357 magnum, how cool is that!

This is an old post. However, I have noticed in most posts regarding the plastic moon clips, that there is no mention of the fact that there are TWO different types of RIMZ clips (EZ Moonclips). One is a flexible polymer that works fine for range use but doesn't retain the cartridges if a loaded clip is dropped. It is real easy to load without tools and lasts VERY well.

The latest material (they carry both models) is Hydrocarbon/Polymer. It is MUCH stiffer, will retain the cartridges when dropped, and still loads without tools. They also last a long time (I have yet to have one fail). The HCP is my recommendation. I have tools for steel clips but, frankly, they are a pain in the tuckus to load and unload. They can bend which renders them useless and they can rust.

If I was in World Class competitive shooting (I'm not shooting competitition these days) I "might" change my mind, but I REALLY like the RIMZ clips.

I would suggest you call to order, and have your EXACT model of revolver in front of you so they can get the right clip for your needs. In addition to the two different materials available, there are different models for different revolvers. Another thing, they are currently $31.50 for fifteen clips (including shipping) and that is not much money to try.

I have no connection to the firm making them but am a happy customer.
