My neighbour up the street and I have begun nominally going to the range every couple of weeks. Pistol range was empty (as usual) when we got there in the morning but after a while a couple of other guys arrived. My buddy brought his 686 and Model 10; I had my Model 14, 625 (.45 AR), GP100 and Ruger SR9.
The other two fellas were SERIOUS shooters - one had a 686 and a 500 Mag
The other guy was "a semi-auto guy" said his buddy. He only had two 1911's... but they were a custom Les Baer and a Wilson Combat- a very suibstantial investment indeed.
I declined the offer to shoot the 500 but my buddy did and although it did roar mightily and rear up, the recoil didn't seem as bad as I'd have thought, perhaps due to weighing 71 oz. (A 4" model at a measly 56 oz might be a different story.)
