I am looking at a model 15-5 that is rather strange....It has a six inch barrel with patridge front sight, service trigger and hammer.

Looks like a K-38 ( model 14) but clearly marked on the box lable and on the gun that it is a model 15-5?

What do we have here?

PS. Gun is 98% in original box. I am looking to buy it as a range gun.

Nothing strange about it just dont see the 6" version as much as the 4".

The Model 15-4 was a 4" gun with the old tapered barrel profile,
Thw 15-5 got the Model 14 wide rib barrel in 4", 6" and 8 3/8" about the same time the Model 14-5 got a full under lug barrel available in the same lengths....

$500.00 sounds about right? I will get it tomorrow.

I think $500 would be a great price for that gun with original box. I'm seeing M14s offered for up to $800 these days which is double what I would have thought reasonable a couple years ago. The six inch 15 (I have one as a 15-6) is essentially the M14. If I came across the M15 as you've described it for $500 or less it would go home with me. Good luck.

Models 14,15,19 and 66 are what I prefer to look for and shoot.

While the 14s and 15s are great shooters I recommend the 19 over them because they are dual caliber, have same smoothness and built on the same frame.

Also you can't go wrong with a 4" or 6" Model 66 before the lock.
