Consider Joining the S&W Collectors Association

Recently another forum member suggested that I join. Printed the application, arranged to get the needed signature, signed, sealed and in the mail. And I remembered to include the check............. Can't wait to see if our schedule will allow for a trip to Charlotte. hardcase60

I joined about 12 years ago and it is one of the most rewarding things I have done. I will never forget my first meeting and walking into a room with Supica and Nahas. They are both really nice guys and so much fun to talk to and they know their stuff. Of course Roy Jinks was there and also very approachable and willing to speak to anyone. David Carroll is as friendly as he is knowledgeable.

I saw Smiths I had only read about and nothing but Smiths. You don't have to have a collection to be welcomed and to feel right at home. It is a very down to earth and friendly bunch.

My most unforgetable memory of that meeting is rather amazing. There was a member there, now deceased, from whom I negotiated with and bought a 6 inch nickel 19. I asked if he would take a check or should I get cash from an ATM. He said "If you are a member of this organization, you must be ok, just mail me a check when you get home."

I have attended other meetings and made many friends. I always look forward to seeing Tennexplorer, Muley Gil and HSguy and Ron from OK. There are many others whom I always enjoy spending time with.

Give us a chance and I think you will like it.

I've been a member for about 6 years now and its been a wonderful experience. The members are genuine and always incredibly helpful. It is one of the few collector's associations where you can literally contact a true subject matter expert if you have a quick question, and they generously take the time to advise and assist.

I have not had the opportunity to go to a symposium yet (work travel, kid's sports tournaments, etc…), but hopefully I will get to Charlotte. I have run into a number of longtime members at various gunshows over the years, and now I always look forward to seeing them and talking for a bit.

I'm always willing to meet up locally with any prospective members who want to learn more about the SWCA. I'll buy you a cup of coffee (anything but Dunkin' Donuts) some morning or a drink after work and share my experiences.

I'd love to joint but don't have office and really don't want to buy it.

Not sure what you mean by this response. I am assuming that "joint" is a typo but not sure what you mean about having an office. You don't need an office to join and don't even have to work in an office to join. We have folks from every walk of life and most every profession. I think that the main criteria is a love of Smith and Wesson's or the products associated therewith.

The members not only have the most vast knowledge of Smith and Wesson's on the planet but are also willing to share that information. I think that is the one common thread that makes the S&WCA such a great organization to be a part of.

If you are really serious about joining or just want more information, please feel free to PM me or send me an email. I always have time to talk about S&W's and the Smith and Wesson Collectors Association.

I'm wondering whether this is about needing to have MS Office on your computer to open and print the application. At least somewhere it was first accessible, it opened as a Word document, not a pdf., and you'd indeed need Office on your machine to get to it. Maybe that's it?

Now that you explained it that way, I'm betting that is what the poster was asking. Before that I couldn't figure out where I was going to find an office..........:( It's been sixteen glorious years since I had one.

Yes it was a typo and I said office not an office. If you call me young you are really old.

Sorry, never made the connection to software. Back in the day when Fred and Barney were selling the first computers, they came loaded with all of the software that you needed including one to write stuff with, so I don't even think in terms of not having a certain software. I guess now a days you have to buy all of the software separately so it is possible that you might not have what you need for a download.

As far as old goes, I am old, older than dirt and have been a Life Member of the NRA since 1976 and a forum member since 2000 IIRC. So most everybody is younger than me. :(

PM me your address and I will gladly download, print and mail you a hard copy for you to fill out. I'll even pay the postage.

"Enabling" don't even begin to explain what happens on this forum. Before I found this place, I had money, was somewhat well adjusted, had a life that didn't revolve around finding my next S&W(fix), never had a list of must have S&W's and actually never had any desire in making a trip to Charlotte. Last night I informed the lady that we had just purchased another S&W, that it had been 91 days since my last purchase and that the 2017 plan was to include a trip to Charlotte. I've even convinced myself that these acquisitions are an investment and more fun than buying a CD. hardcase60

I sent my application last week. My check has been received and I am waiting for the phone interview. You guys feel free to put in a good word for me.

Today I just bought another K frame. Can't wait to possess it and begin caring for it.

Just had my phone interview. Just a matter of time now. Can't wait.

:D
