Evening folks,
I have a model 696-1 that I have been offered some money by a gentleman that wants to buy it from me. I don't know what it is worth, but have heard it may have some value as it was not made for to long. Is that correct? It does not have the original grips ,no box or papers and has been shot some but not all beat up. Any help on values would be great, not sure if he is even real serious but if it is of some value I would consider selling it I guess. His offer was 600.00 if that helps.

Thanks
Jeff

You are correct, the 696 was only made for a few years and has become quite in demand as a CCW and collectible gun. As you describe yours, warts and all, it would still be a $750 gun or so; a NIB early 696 can easily bring $1K. Hope this is helpful.

Last one sold on Gunbroker with no box and rubber grips for $943. His offers slightly on the low side IMO.

Jeff I could definitely top his $600 offer and take care of all shipping hassles as well if you want. :)

His offer is somewhere between laughable and just plain uninformed. The 696 has a following, they are really great guns.

Depending on your relationship to your buyer - make a counter offer. I have seen several 696's sell at or above 900 (including one that I sold to a member here). If someone offered $600 for one of mine it would not be going anywhere ;)

I paid $820 for a -1 over a year ago and was happy to get it at that price. Don't see them for sale very often. It has since become my favorite 44. It it would take considerably more than $820 to get it away from me now. Good luck.

The key is that a no dash has no MIM and frame mounted firing pin and it definitely brings a premium. They bottom out at about $900 as yours is described, but your -1 will bottom out around $800. Or $600 if you accept the offer you have. The no dash with box and original goodies is more like $1200, $1000 for a similar -1.

Thanks for all the information. It was very helpful. Guess i'll put it on GunBroker and see what happens.

I wouldn't go below $800. The -1 is said to be the most accurate. Not sure I believe that, but it's out there.

Why I don't believe it is because my ND is a laser, and it's no -1.

I scored a 696-1 no box or papers.
Fired very little. It looks new.
I couldn't believe he was only asking 400 bucks for it. I will not part with it. I've wanted one since they first came out. It was a nice retirement gift to myself. [emoji16]
